First play Painter's Servant and choose a color you're NOT playing to make all your creatures in your hand multicolored.

Then the Dragon Arch will put them in play for only 2 mana.

I love Painter's Servant - its so ....... strange!

Strange yes, but it makes a very nice card for building combos around. I like this combo,and would go nice on turn two with a couple of forests and a channel in hand. Krosan Cloudscraper for two (mana) anyone?

Channel - great idea! I've been looking for ways to get it out faster, and will definitely put one in.

Any other ideas for a fast mana-start that would be legal in vintage?

It is an artifact, Tinker works. if you go with the restricted cards.. and Show and Tell third turn, second if you play with the Mercadian Masques depletion lands.
