Enchanted Evening makes everything an enchantment in addition to its types. Aura Thief allows you to gain control of all enchantments in play when it hits the graveyard.

You will literally have every permanent in play if you manage the combo, leaving your opponents without creatures, without lands and without a hope.

aside from targeting Enchanted Evening, or Aura Thief with an Exile effect. The main weakness would probably be Yixlid Jailer.

Enchanted Evening definitely is a huge target, but with luck, you could win the last laugh.

The jailer wouldn't negate the effect, the thief's ability triggers when it is still on the battlefield and a status check has confirmed that it will be put into the graveyard. Tokens never actually enter the graveyard, but something like sadistic glee would still trigger from the destruction of a token because the creature is destined to be "put into a graveyard from play," even though it never actually makes it in there.

Those types of triggers activate while the object is in transition (still in play).

Yixlid Jailer is amazing against cycle effects though, or anything that triggers from the graveyard (like something discarded from your hand like Golgari Brownscale).

But even without the jailer, anything from a counterspell to a disenchant will completely ruin the combo :(

i concur, i would be pretty pissed if it happened to me too lol. a nice way to stop counterspell/disenchants though, if youre not afraid of multicolor, is City of Solitude. "what? you cant counter? thats too bad.... /yoink"
Nice combo. ^.^

remove claws of gix and put in the Hell's Caretaker equipped with thornbite staff combo and you can endlessly steal permanents :)

the problem with that is that the caretaker/hellbite would slow the combo down considerably
