Well, if it doesn't, you can always use Wrap in Vigor.

That was the card that I was originally looking for in Gatherer. I found Loxodon Hierarch and decided to use that instead.

This works, you just have to sacrifice the Hierarch before the Tempest resolves.

Uh, you sure about that Zark? When you sac, there is nothing to regenerate. Then tempest destroys everything...

zark is correct, to generalize.. the sac occurs before the creatures are destroyed, so when the loxodon is sacced it puts a shield around your remaining creatures, and then when tempest goes off, the shield is destroyed instead of your creatures.

Heck, you can even sacrifice the Hierarch to regenerate everything before even casting the Tempest, this will give all your critters a 'regeneration shield' which will last until end of turn (well, until the next time they would be destroyed)

If you have a bit more mana, Fracturing Gust will give you plenty of life (though it's a bit obvious with Enchanted Evening)
