take the damage from any attack then make the Royal Guard indestructible and use the ability to redirect the damage.

nice problem in multiplayer when the guard is tapped though. Maybe quest for renewal?

you could even use pariah and any indestructible creature.

I also use fatestitcher to untap but I'm all about 2 card combos.  Or throw in a seedborn muse or quest for renewal for multi.  thx for the tip.
