Play these two down, and even your swamps become a volatile force to be reckoned with!

The only drawback is the requirement to produce 4 sacrificial creatures, and maintain a healthy supply of swamps (great for multiplayer tournaments though).

I still have a Hecatomb deck :P I use various madness creatures, Skirk Ridge Exhumers, Marsh Flitters, Sengir Autocrats, a few other forms of discard and a few tutors. I never thought of Death Pits, but I think it's too expensive for the deck. Orzhov Euthanists would serve the same purpose, and give you creatures to sacrifice to the Hecatomb.
