each turn you can suck up the +1/+1 counter with a new spike cannibal. The armor keeps the spike alive and tough to kill. Since cumulative upkeep uses age counters, the cost goes up, so you new spike gets bigger and bigger.

You will kill off the first creature when you do this.

the spike needs to have the armor on before you use the splinter twin. If it does then it is a 0/6 creature, because it has the armor on. If you forget the armor then it is a 0/0 and dies. The armor can be replaced with anything that increases defense by 1 or more.

other combo to go with the Sheltering Ancient is cytoplast manipulator. Instead of taking the counters, you take the whole creature. Of course they will run out of creatures eventualy.

The armor is to keep Spike Cannibal alive... because when the Spike Cannibal copy comes into play, it gets the counter of the original spike cannibal...
