Sadly this doesn't work without other static pump of some kind.
The ability on the Blademaster which gives it a +1/+1 counter is a triggered ability when it enters the battlefield.
The -1/-1 counter it gets from Persist isn't - it enters the battlefield with the counter already on it.
Thus it is a 0/0 creature and dies due to 0 toughness before it can get it's +1/+1 counter.

So i need "Honor of the Pure" or something that pump creature up?
