Why? Only promblem there is:
1)The number of your opponents must be 1

JC says it deals damage to you. Why would you want to kill yourself?

To you means to the player, who owns it... and this effect does apply at the beggining oh that player UPKEEP... you dont have this phase that turn, when you play JC

Dosen't  owning a permanent and controlling mean two different things? Wouldn't it have to say it deals damage to its owner? I don't know. I'm confused.

Newb, yes owning and controlling are diffferant things and it is possible for you to own something that is controlled by someone else, such as with act of treason.  when a card refers to you it refers to the current controller of the card. and cards that refer to the owner will specifically say the owner, such as unsummon

so in the case of JC it will do damage to its controller at their upkeep
