You need at least 2 mana (+1 with the joiner) to untap the joiner for the first time, then it provides enough mana to untap itself, giving extra green mana. Combine with Upwelling if you can't spend it, Pinacle Helix or X/X creatures and you'll win!

Good one!

This makes me wonder however. How cards are useful within an infinite mana combo (along the lines of Helix Pinnacle or Planeswalker's Scorn).
