We all know that flying decks are great for a quick stab and attack if the other player isn't prepared, and having a series of 2/2 - supposing someone doesn't just play down Envicar's Justice or some equivalent, may prove formidable. No one would want to block the slayer because it works even faster than first strike (which was part of the mechanic they used when they brought it out in invasion as an opposing creature to razorfoot griffin - you know, back in the day when they didn't have retardedly huuuuuge creatures like that new 15/15).

Add something like circle protection white, and you're set for a simple and powerful cluster of attacks.
