Title: Question about Xantid Swarm

I'm trying to settle a dispute that you can't play an instant in response to the swarm attacking.

For example, I attack with a swarm and some other creatures at the same time (or even the swarm alone). My opponent tries to play holy day, claiming that it would resolve before my swarm attacks.

I say that he would have to play any spells before I declare attackers

'Whenever Xantid Swarm attacks, defending player can't play spells this turn.'

This starts with 'Whenever', meaning it's a triggered ability, which goes on the stack and has to resolve as normal.

While the ability is still on the stack, your opponent can respond to it as normal.

EDIT: Also note, you have to declare the start of your combat step, as there is a period when people can play spells and abilities before you attack. You can't just go 'I attack with these' without giving your opponent chance to do stuff.

Gotcha.
And just to be clear about the turn: if I attack with the swarm, my opponent can still play spells on his turn because the swarm refers to "this turn" as the rest of mine.
Yes?
