Title: Why? WHY?!

I'm in a "relationship" with a woman who's...how do I say this, a burned-out light bulb as far as anything intellectual is concerned. Her single saving grace is that she can cook quite well. I'll give you an example; me: "This is crazy. 650 mile load and 3 days to do it? WTF...?" her:"It won't take 3 days to go 650 miles?" Seriously?! Strike one. She can't articulate a lot of words. She sites poor education where she grew up. Bullshit. I keep plenty of books around for her to read and learn from. Absolutely refuses to read them. That to me says she'd rather be intellectually inferior instead of reading a book. Her favorite shows include Maury, Jerry Springer, Steve Wikos, etc. She leaves the room when I'll watch How the Universe Works or Through the Wormhole. If anyone is with someone significantly less intelligent, how do you do it? Only thing that comes to mind is a combination of cough syrup and a powerful otc drug to reduce my intelligence, but I like having cognitive thought. Suggestions?

ultimate like all relationships its lovr them or leave them

reading between the lines it sounds like you dumb yourself down to her during conversation, so its at her comfort level. If shes comfortable why should she change? especially since it sounds like you want greater depths of subjects she has no interest in.
you say since she doesnt read she rather be inferior. do you think she views herself that way? I dont read books, does that mean I choose to be inferior, no it means i want to do something else instead. and im content with who I am
am i intellectualy inferior to my wife? hell yeah, but at the same time I'm her greater. It depends on the level of interest we have in the subject at hand. it doenst matter how intellegent a person is, you cant have an indepth conversation if there is no interest in the subject.

Love 'em or hate 'em? If those are my options, hate 'em is the only course then. Only 1 person on this entire board I would feel comfortable disclosing another major factor hasn't responded to this yet, but, no harm since none of you know who I am IRL. I am a diagnosed sociopath. Don't judge without knowing what that really means. I'm not insane or a murderer. I don't experience emotions. I don't form bonds with other people very well. However, I can get a complete stranger to do stuff they wouldn't do for their closest friends or family.

I'd say Gericault hit the nail on the head. You either have that magical disney moment...or you don't (So to speak...) when it comes to love. There are always plenty of other things to spend one's time on. If you don't let the other person know how you feel about things...well then...you are wasting both yours and the other person's time...

At least that's how I view it...maybe a female perspective would yield a better perspective...either that or a different perspective...the advice about not wasting either one or both people's time comes mostly from how my wife approaches such a situation...

PS: Sorry if it seems like I'm butting in... >.<;

Let me highlight something else while I'm at it. She honestly feels threatened by M:TG. She feels that I like magic more than her. Magic's been in my life for 21 years, she's been around for 3. She's been pressuring me to sell my collection of cards amongst other things. I have to be okay with her hobbies, but she can have a problem with mine. Double standard. She's 1 more stupid statement from being homeless. I would have no problem at all literally kicking her to the curb. No kids involved. Not married. Hell of a lot easier and cheaper than a divorce. Been there, done that.

Well, the day came. The stupid statement was made. She is currently packing her crap up. I gave her 30 minutes to get her shit together and get out. If anything is left behind, she can fish it out of the dumpster. She can take the goddamn cat with her to the shelter she's walking to. It should be noted, that sociopaths can be unbelievably cruel when pushed. She's finding out the hard way. Why do women think they are entitled to money they did nothing to earn it? Bullshit. Tired of greedy fucking women who see a business owner and go "sugar daddy." I'm getting a dog. Only thing they want is toys, chews and attention.
