Title: card play as story

So I've often wondered how some characters, especially legendaries, would interact if they were actually in contact with other cards in a deck as a story. What does that Prodigal Pyromancer think about nuking Gravecrawler every turn? So then this story came to me, based off a play could could actually happen.

Heliod, God of the Sun, watched as the being materialized in front of him. He didn't know yet whether it represented a threat, but held his spear at the ready, prepared to either fight or talk. His spear? When had he incarnated? Heliod wasn't aware of his body becoming physical, but he had arms and legs and a body, all the same. The being in front of him, communicating more through intent than language in the way of divinities everywhere, introduced itself as Cleansing Fire, one of the five Myojin, spiritual caretakers of a far away world. Heliod knew that this Cleansing Fire wouldn't attack him, but what did it want? It pointed outward, toward a city Heliod had neglected during his campaign against the vampires. He knew it as a land where Purphuros and Erebos were worshipped, but they seemed to have abandoned the area. Look closer, Cleansing Fire said. Look at the demons. Heliod looked, and saw them, and understood them. Both were called Rakdos, the first so spiteful that he had not only murdered Purphuros and Erebos, but denied their existence at any time, the second an anarchist who frenzied his followers into bloodlust-anybody's blood. There had been no love between Heliod and the slain gods, but this was an insult that must not be allowed to continue. Cleansing Fire spoke again. If you wish to survive, I can destroy them. Your followers, however, will be destroyed as well. The campaign against the vampires had been successful, but costly, and there were few true soldiers left in his service. Although devotion had been increasing, most of his devotees were farmers or priests, not fighting men. They would die if the Rakdos demons turned their attention to him. As he and Cleansing Fire watched, the demons called chaos upon the remnants of the merfolk empire, laughing as the merfolk slaughtered their leaders and the leaders slaughtered the merfolk, and laid a curse on the underwater city. The city turned black and began to rot and smell of decay. Heliod turned to Cleansing Fire and nodded. A burst of flame, brighter than even Heliod's own, swept across the land, leaving nothing in its path. The demons and their vile servants had ceased to exist. After an instant, the flames cleared, and Cleansing Fire seemed to be a shell of his former self. Heliod pulled a string of light off his crown and fashioned it into a shape halfway between his and Cleansing Fire's and released it into the wasteland. The first of the new, more perfect race turned and kneeled before its two masters.

Setup:
Heliod deck defeated vampire deck, casting Increasing Devotion in the process. Rakdos deck played Rakdos the Defiler, sacrificing Erebos and Purphuros (why? I have no idea. It made a better story), then cast Rakdos, Lord of Riots. Merfolk deck is playing.

Gameplay:
Heliod deck casts Myojin of Cleansing Fire and ends. Rakdos deck casts Alpha Brawl and Contaminated Ground on merfolk deck. Myojin of Cleansing Fire activates ability. Heliod creates a creature enchantment token.

If you liked this, or want to write your own gameplay interpretation, please continue this thread. If you thought it was a waste of time, let it die a natural death without complaining. Thanks.

Finally! Someone does a fluff/flavor/storyline based post! Hells yes! F@#k yes! This is pretty awesome! Hell if we had more of this and less everything uber competitive bulls@#t! I may have considered playing more mtg instead of purging me a heretic...

Angelus Domini

TL;DR: F@#K THE HELLS YES! Maybe there's hope for mtg yet...

(Side note: Sincerely did not mean any insult toward MTG as a game...it's just the player base tends to evolve into a bunch of spam players...like that @sshole who builds an army just to spam three hell turkeys...THAT GUY...seriously f@#k THAT GUY...)

Sincerely though...if more tournaments judged based on deck backstory in addition to the competitive aspect of the game...I would feel more inclined to play...instead of buying a f@#k ton of boosters...building a deck I like the looks of...and then shelving it for four years...

Never seen anything like this, but it's interesting nonetheless. Keep up the good work!
