Good day guys,

I've been playing magic since Onslaught block and there are two things occurs each and every time you play magic. The haters and fanatics. Most players that love to play magic is basically the control type of players which is very boring to play with. They want to play as much as they want to for the reason to show case their strength in controlling a game. Combo's and stuff is what they really prefer. The other type is the Aggressive type of players. They too, like the one i mentioned above like to play magic alot but, the difference is, they most likely like to finish the game in just few turns? now tell me, where is the fun in that...??? so which one more boring? hahahah....

Combo / Control players like to play long games, but the catch is, if your the one who's in the other side of the field, you'll just watch them how they finish you off with a combo.

The Aggressive players like to finish the game very quickly. It's like, " hey let's play magic" , then after shuffling like 3 minutes, they finish you off in less than a minute. Now where's the fun in that?

The only way to let most decks have their fair share is if one opponent is running a UG deck with two comboes:
1)Isochron Scepter+Fog
2)Eye of the Storm+Time Stop
Similar comboes accepted.

The reason why one player must be capable of running these comboes is two fold:
1)More "basic" decks rely on attacking with either an overwhelming force or some cards to make the assault extra devestating. Fog will allow the attempt of these strikes without ending the game (in most cases)
2)Time stop removes the stack and ends the turn, that means all of the components can be in place and still be deemed harmless. This is not 100% solid, but the best I could come up with doing minimal research.

If you want a good game of magic: Don't play people playing to win. The last prerelease I played with a guy that was out there to just to play. We both looked at our opening hands and made horrible faces. We decided to do a friendly mulligan. Is that technically legal?
It is. I haven't seen it in a rule book, but I know that it is. It goes for any game. If all players argee on something, they can make it so. All players of a game decide to play a game, one way or another.

I'm stuck at an impasse. I have quite a few amazing decks that I just can't play with my friends. It isn't fun for them. I keep these decks around just in case "those people" and you all know the mindset, comes up and claims "I don't know how to play." You can't reason with these trolls. You either have to endure them or spare your words and let your cards put them in their place.

Otherwise, I've made a deck with no real win condition. This deck enhances the fun of multiplayer decks and stays alive because it is not a threat. With this deck I feel that I have truly ascended as a player. I will never win with that deck when playing with people seeking to win, but I will always have fun when playing people seeking to win.
This allows me, as a person, not a player, to win. Since I achieved what I set out to do by playing a card game: have fun.

I balance this out by being part of this site, which is mostly around due to people trying to crush contenders with devestating combos.
To each their own.

I'll always favor aggro over combo...

Aggro kills faster than combo usually...

But combo allows for fairly sadistic gameplay...Trapping the enemy in a hopeless situation for example...

Aggro usually = more competitive

Combo usually = less competitive

In most situations.

But when it comes to fun...I always play to burn everybody to the ground or set up a king...Worldfire for example...

Now there is a fun card indeed...

I love playing against all of them... because i wanted to see how strong they are, and in what way will i be able to beat them... it is so satisfying to beat a strong deck even once... i once beat an affinity deck with my R/G aggro deck... although it was just a fluke... it is still satisfying to see...

actually, playing with the people whose mind set is just to win at any cost, sure is competitive but not as fun as it would be. Most of the MTG players play because they would like to be part of social community with one thing in common. Playing cards. So if you play for fun, find a community that suits you, if not and your just a casual player, i think playing MTG would always be as serious as hell and your not going to have fun.

Thanks for the response. All of you guys! Seasons Greetings!

See you at Grand prix in Singapore this coming January 2013.

a great combo deck wont let the aggro deck get started, or will be able to hold it in its tracks (unable to do much)until game ends or someone concedes (look at stasis decks for example)

i used to run a stasis deck with 4 balance, 4 time walk, 4 time twisters (before they were restricted), and 4 black lotus (before they were listed as rare too) 4 reset, 4 boomerang etc... kill condition was black vice

yes, this deck can even beat the deck that was 20 islands, 15 flying men, 25 unstable mutation (before the 4 of each card max rule was implemented) (the original and still most powerful aggro deck out there far as i know)

black lotus was uncommon in alpha, and highly underestimated in early aplha, thus not so hard to get, and no price guides were out yet) but with the original game rules, they were literally being destroyed, so, after a while, they were far less common than they were initially printed as...(remember, MTG was originally an ante game, sometimes played for money bets between players) because so many were destroyed, they were listed as rares later in that year, in subsequent sets (bets, unlimited) they were printed as rares, and the rules changed so that when a card says destroyed, it simply went to the grave rather than the trashcan (thus the unglued card called chaos confetti pays homage to these rules, mocking chaos orb)

that old deck... was undefeated when i retired it after a month, as it was no fun to win all the time, just pissing players off.

i remade a stasis deck, but more powerful than the first... updated

ive been looking for the last 3 hours at various stasis decks online, they are decent, but each one has a flaw that mine doesn't (i have that thing tuned to be horrible to face... only way to beat me that i know of was to let me run out of cards on my own accord, as i'd counter everything else
or bounce it, and if shroud, bounce everything then play black vice

i made it just for the aggro people :P

make those playing aggro decks get aggrivated....lol

I am so embarassed that I never considered Black Vise in my statis deck. I found recently that Zephr Falcons worked and I was upgrading to Hovermyrs. HOVERMYRS! Black Vise is much deadlier! Stupid-stupid-stupid-stupid.

Thank you for bringing this obvious option to light.
