So my friends is building an EDH deck with Scion of the Ur-Dragon as a commander.

For now, is goal is to mana-ramp to the top and bring is commander to play to kill you with his ability (witch is to put dragons to his graveyard and uses the ability of that same dragon)

But as I played him, is weakness is in the fisrt 5-6 turns while he's mana-ramping ....

We want to know if you can suggest some card to fill his weakness.

Thanks for suggesting !

here is all the dragon in his deck : Dragonspeaker shaman,
Hellkite igniter, phantasmal dragon, flameblast dragon, vampiric dragon, Treva the renewer, Ryusei the falling star, Numot the devastator, Moltensteel Dragon, Teneb the harvester, Thundermaw Hellkite, Volcanic Dragon, Niv-Mizzet the firemind, Rith the Awakener, Sedris traitor king, Crosis the purger, Balefire Dragon, Utvara Hellkite, Hypersonic Dragon,

Well if he's playing dragons, then he's probably playing a lot of red. If he's ramping, he's probably playing a lot of green. So how about FIrespout or Savage Twister? What about our good friend Solemn Simulacrum as a source of ramp, some card advantage and a chump blocker?

You could also try Peacekeeper, but it ties up some mana and is easy to kill.

Where is the Skithryx??? A win-con for the deck is Scion attacks, then uses ability to become moltensteel dragon, pump to by 6, then turn to skittles for infect win.

I dont think that works, because Scion becomes the dragon creature until end of turn, so, you cant make Scion becomes another dragon when you activate his ability.

Correct me on that if im wrong

You activate the trigger twice. You then choose which to resolve first. You fetch moltensteel dragon and scion is .ow moltensteel. Before passing priority, activate moltensteel to get +6 power. After all those resolve, let the second scion activation
resolve. Fetch Skithryx and now scion(moltensteel) is now Skithryx. Skittles is a 4/4, and due to layers, P/T modification comes after setting P/T. So Scion(skithryx) is a 4/4 with +6/+0 for lethal infect. You do this prcess after declaring attaclers and as a response to your opponent declaring no blockers to scion (end of declare blockers step).

I really dont think it is working.

9/25/2006 Removing the other Dragon card from your graveyard has no effect on Scion of the Ur-Dragon.
9/25/2006 When Scion of the Ur-Dragon becomes a copy of another Dragon, it loses its copy ability for the rest of the turn.

I like googling as a valuable source for rule discussion. Here you find a more detailed explanation why the Scion-trigger-twice is working.
