Is it wrong that I obsessively study tournament reports and compile deck lists and strategies...but never actually play this card game anymore? I still have all my builds and some new ones...

Don't get me wrong it's fun and all...and I still buy packs...but I don't play...ever...at all...

So...um...just wondering if that's normal?

I did the same thing for about two years. I had a group if friends who played, but I just built decks and designed strategies without playing. I got back into playing, but if your condition was weird, so was mine. Normality is for amateurs.

Veterans go through phases like that. I stopped playing in the Mercadian Masques era. Things just got...ugly. I kept building decks and such. Then Prophecy happened, and I came back. With all this stupidity happening again, might be time for another break for a while. Who knows...might find that one mechanic that catches my interest. Avacyn sure as hell didn't do much to keep me all that interested in type 2.

Honestly there's no point in buying packs and building decks if you're not going to play them.

Truth be told, I'm just waiting for Return to Ravnica. My Niv-Mizzet EDH needs more power ya know.

@Narcinek: What's it to you anyway? What does it matter? It's just a teenager's card game...nothing of importance really...besides Cardfight! Vanguard is way more fun at the moment....MTG has turned into....Play Delver/Red or GTFO! I'm still building for standard though. (Mono-Black got Vamp. Nighthawk FTW!)   but as far as playing...it's pointless as far as it goes...I have no love of Red/Green or Mono-blue....and without support for Red/Black (Reala) I can't play what I enjoy competetively in this format...but In Cardfight! I can play flame dragons to my heart's content and still win.

I did that for a while, and now I've become nearly completely inactive.

I hope to get back into Magic with RTR.

I've only played 3 games of Magic since I lost my job. But today was my birthday and I used my birthday money to order some cards and online complete some unfinished decks I had laying around. Once they come in my decks will be complete and I'll start playnig again.
