Let's combo! One combo per day, first without one loses! Any and all who wish to battle, comment "I accept" on this! Let the combo battle begin!

think you need to define this more by creating restrictions on what can be posted.  otherwise someone will just post ischron scepter and something each day.

Good point. Everyone not playing is asked to judge. But, each combo must not have any of the same cards as a combo posted before. The judges will decide if a combo is legal or not. Also, see ":O x10" (the combo)

Must not have the same cards as any combo posted before? That's a steep challenge sir, I would just encourage people to be original and leave the judges to determine if a combo is both legitimate and not a restatement of a previously made combo.

Anyone else thinking we need Sync to moderate a little...if we get more people like Discord dude...well...I don't like going to general chat specifically on my phone (3G takes forever to load.)

I accept. Incidentally, are basic lands legal in combos? :o...

Here are some basic rules I thought up, let me know if you guys think there should be any modification to them:

  1. Combos can consist of as little as 2 and as many as 6 cards, points awarded are 10 minus the number of cards used (a 4 card combo will earn 6 points, 10-4=6)
  2. The combo will be awarded 10 points with one point removed for each color involved in the combo (a 2 color combo will earn 8 points, 10-2=8)
  3. No basic lands can be used in the combos except in the case you specify in the description that it is a stand-in for a card not in the database.  Otherwise listing a basic land in the combo will remove 2 points from your score.  This rule can be overwritten by a majority vote from the players that choose to judge.
  4. Of the cards used in your combo, you will receive 4 points for a common, 3 points for an uncommon, 2 points for a rare, and 1 point for a mythic (a combo with a rare, two commons, and a mythic rare will earn 11 points, 2+4+4+1=11)
  5. The combo will earn 1 point for each format recognized by Wizards that the combo is legal in.  The poster must state all formats the combo is legal in for it to count towards the total.  Possible formats are Block, Standard, Modern, Extended, Legacy, Vintage, Commander, and Tribal Wars; Some formats were not listed because there little to no individual card restriction in them.  (a combo that is posted as legal in Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Tribal Wars will earn 4 points, even if it is also legal Vintage but not mentioned)
  6. The combo will earn 10 points with 1 removed for every turn that is required to pull it off with Only the cards listed and 1 land dropped per turn (a Turn 6 combo will earn 4 points, 10-6=4; a Turn 2 combo will earn 8 points, 10-2=8)
  7. A combo that goes infinite will earn 1 point for each way it goes infinite (draw, damage, mana, life, discard, etc.)
  8. A combo that wins the game will earn 5 points
  9. 1 point will be removed for each mana required that isn't generated by the combo itself (a combo including Bloom Tender and Freed from the Real will lose 6 points, 3 for each card, but not have further deductions for green mana as it can produce infinite green mana)
  10. A card that doesn't contribute to the overall function of the combo will be treated as though it is not there except that 3 points will be deducted.
  11. Duplicate cards will earn 0 points but still count towards the total cards used (a combo with a Krak Clan Ironworks and two Myr Retrievers will count as 3 cards, 0 colors, and points will only be awarded for 1 Ironworks and 1 Myr Retriever)
  12. If a combo proves to not be functional, a player may edit their post to specify card changes.  Only one such change may be made and will deduct 5 points from the total
  13. If, even after modification, a combo is deemed non-functional the score will be set to 0.

According to this, the existing combo Bloom Tender+Freed from the Real with all possible formats legal in stated will be calculated as:
1. 8 --- 2 cards, 10-2=8
2. 8 --- 2 colors, 10-2=8
3. 0 --- no basic lands
4. 6 --- 1 Rare and 1 Common, 4+2=6
5. 6 --- legal in Modern, Extended, Legacy, Vintage, Commander, and Tribal Wars, 1+1+1+1+1+1=6
6. 6 --- Turn 4 playable as posted, 10-4=6
7. 1 --- Infinite mana generated
8. 0 --- Doesn't win the game independantly
9. -6 --- 3 mana to cast the bloom tender and 3 mana to cast the Freed from the Real (-3)+(-3)=-6
10. 0 --- no extra cards posted
11. 0 --- no duplicate cards
12. 0 --- combo is functional
13. N/A
Total 8+8+6+6+6+1+(-6)=29

Let me know if you think there should be any modification to these rules and we'll make the change

When I say "not posted before" I mean not posted by anyone in the combo battle. And I just think the judges will decide if a combo is legit.

And about that, if a combo is deemed not legit, you do get another try ON THAT DAY. You lose if you don't save yourself that day.

Also, this isn't a point awarded game, it's more of a way to see who has the most new combos. So if you don't have a combo on one day, you are out. Dont worry, we can start a loser's "bracket" too.

Sorry, that didn't sound right. Anyone out of the race is free to start another one, same rules. And you can join either race at any time, just post a combo and write "I accept the combo battle" in the text box.

Deadeye Navigator + Gilded Lotus + Deceiver Exarch + Blue Sun's Zenith

Have Gilded Lotus on the battlefield with five lands. Cast Deceiver Exarch with the Lotus, then untap the Lotus. Tap three lands and the Lotus for Deadeye Navigator. Pair it with the Deceiver Exarch. Tap the last two lands to exile Deceiver Exarch and then return it. When it re-enters the battlefield, untap the Lotus and re-pair it with Deadeye Navigator.

Now you can tap the Lotus to repeat the process, netting yourself one additional mana each time. Get yourself high enough and then deck your opponent with Blue Sun's Zenith.

Standard legal for the next month and a half.

Is that your combo battle post? If so, next time post it as a combo please. And say "combo battle day #..." according to the day.

Why don't we allow where once a week or month we can reference a previous combo we've posted.

Referencing is fine. But using, say Isochron Scepter twice in a row is not allowed.

Ok then let's make it once a week allowed. Also let's make to where that once a week reference can be our combo of the day.
