I have seen dual cards like Bound // Determined, but I don't know how they work. Can someone explain it to me without just copying the rules?

In a nutshell they are basically  two differant spells on one card.  you can play either the left one or the right by paying the associated mana cost, you can not play both

How does the cmc work?

Each side of the card has its own respective CmC, of course.....but if it comes to an issue where you are making decisions based on the CmC, you have the choice of which CmC you choose. For example, if you exile Bound/Determined with an Isochron Scepter, you would obviously only be able to use the "Determined" option for that.  Also, if you used it in a situation which called on its CmC for another spell to take effect, such as Erratic Explosion....you would have the choice of which side's CmC you wanted to use.

When you play a split card, declare first which spell you will play, Ex: Bound // Determined are two seperate spells, Bound and Determined. Not by just paying the mana, you must also declare which spell will you play.

As for the CMC, i already explain it on my post on What makes Isochron Scepter so broken?

As long as the split card is not on the stack, it has these characteristics:

Each side of a split card has it's own spell characteristics such as CMC, Color, type, etc.
But both of side of a split card have the same type (instant / sorcery).
There is no split card (at least none yet) that is an instant on the left side and a sorcery on the other side.

As for color, each side has a different color. Ex: Fire // Ice is both red and blue but not a multicolored spell.

Same with CMC's which are both the CMC of the first half and the CMC of the other half. Ex: Bound // Determined have two CMCs 5(Bound) and 2(Determined).

When the split card is on the stack(meaning you already chosen which spell will you play). It will gain the characteristic of the spell you chose to play.

Ex: Fire // Ice (both red and blue if not on the stack) while if it is on the stack (either red or blue only and not both. Determined by which ever spell you choose to play Fire or Ice.). Same as CMCs and Spell type.

There are also drawback on split cards like when you revealed it using Dark Confidant. Both the CMCs of the split card will trigger Dark Confidant which will make you lose life equal to the sum of the 2 CMCs. Ex: Bound // Determined will trigger Dark Confidant which will take 5 life for Bound and 2 life on Determined for a total of 7 life.

OUCH!!!
