He has a boyhood crush which Rarity is aware of which is what makes things intresting. Wait, isn't she the element of generosity? RD was trying to beat the Manticore non-violently. Rarity just kicked him. Which, in addition to doing nothing, also further angered him. Also, I seem to remember Trixie beating Rarity too. Also, isn't Rarity the one who almost died due to being vain, but was saved by RD. You claim that RD is always shamelessly arrogant, but I remember her cowering in the corner from stage fright. Wait, wasn't that the episode where Rarity was attempting to upstage RD and in the effort, was being incredibly irritatingly conceited. At the beggining of that same episode Rainbow Dash was boasting about her performance and berating Fluttershy for her own failures. Rarity got caught up in something new and exciting, far more excusable than Dash's continuous I am the best antics. One can be greedy and still be generous. Rarity is a businesswoman and as such must look out for smart financial moves. But lets see she gives each of her friends new dresses at the exoense of her own after allready making them dresses. She forgives Sweetie Belle and does something she would not normally do even after Sweetie used her rare gems. She gave Spike exactly what he wanted twice. She made each of her friend's winter capes again free of charge. Dash on the other hand element of loyalty 1. Can't be bothered to help Applejack (The Ticket Master) 2.Is willing to out manuver her friends also the ticket master 3. Ignores Twilight's plan and charges in Dragonshy 4. Berates Fluttershy for lackluster cheering supposedly causing her problems (The Sonic Rainboom) 5. Furthermore she cares more for her own fame than the safety of Ponyville (Mare Do Well) 6. Ignores the loyalest of all the pets untill it saves her life (May the Best Pet Win) 7. Hostile reaction towards Rarity's outfit and Rarity in (Sweet and Elite) Honestly she and Applejack should probably swap elements seeing how painfully honest Rainbow is and how feircely dedicated Applejack is. I specifically remember Rainbow Dash choosing the turtle at the end of the episode. If she had no character development and wasn't loyal, she wouldn't have chosen the turtle. Furthermore, she had no knowledge that the turtle was loyal until it had come to save her. After realizing that the turtle was loyal, she chose him! Even though Tank didn't complement her style at all. From the interwebz: "Honestly, as I've come to understand it, Rarity is the least likeable of the mane six. She's not unlikeable because she's boring like Applejack, or obnoxious like Rainbow Dash, instead she's just a flat out bitch. In the pilot we learn that Rarity is the element of generosity, but later in the series it's hard to find her being very generous. In fact, I'd argue that she's completely self centered and selfish. Lets not forget in "Sonic Rainboom" where Rarity generously offers herself as a guinea pig for a bit of experimental magic in the spirit of helping Rainbow Dash succeed at the best young fliers competition. This is quickly forgotten when she discovers that her wings are beautiful and decides to compete AGAINST her friend to win the admiration of others. Ultimately she is punished for her hubris by almost falling to her death, but the fact is she TRIED to beat her friend at a competition that Rainbow Dash dreamed of winning. We see it again in "Green is Not Your Color" when Rarity can't be happy for Fluttershy because she believes that she is supposed to be the star. In the end, of course, Rarity tries to save Fluttershy's career. Rarity finds out that Fluttershy didn't want to be a model at all, but the fact remains that Rarity didn't want her to succeed in the first place. In fact, she was hoping that she'd fail. If she were truly generous she would have been happy, although it was something she really wanted. Rarity just doesn't fit the element of generosity very well." Also, Rainbow Dash is known for being loyal, brash, competitive, athletic, and mischievous. Hasbro has me covered on Rainbow Dash's awesomeness too! "Yes, she's a bit proud, and a bit mischievous, and often lazy for somepony obsessed with speed, but when the chips are down, and danger is a-brewing, Rainbow Dash always, always comes through, proving time and time again that she is a true hero!" Rarity is ashamed of being jealous or did you forget that? Rarity feels ashamed in Sweet in Elite when she realizes she has neglected Twilight and in the end she almost throws away her career for her friends only to be timely bailed out by Fancy Pants. She thinks speaking up would make Fluttershy feel bad so she even subverts her career (when Bon-Bon and Berry Punch show up) she waits hours for her friend. Rarity insists they go to cheer for Rainbow Dash. Rarity goes to compete but she presents it as a fun activity to do together as friends. Also Rainbow would have denied tank if the hawk hadn't bowed out for the best pet. Neither Applejack or Rainbow Dash seemed apologetic for cheating. On a sidenote I like Applejack better than RD to. In reality they all have their moments its just I can't like Rainbow Dash seeing how arogant she is and how little she learns from her faults. Rarity on the other hand learns and admits her flaws almost constantly. I find that makes Rarity far more intresting to me than the far more one dimensional RD. Rainbow Dash a very narrow minded pony whom has constantly been expanding her ideas and opinions, she puts up a bold face yet still proves soft deep inside. Fluttershy struggles with her shyness and overcoming it.  Even though she tries numerous times to assert herself, it always ends badly. Luna after being banished by her sister, and then feared as a monster, she faces serious rejection issues, so she puts up a tough outer shell, but inside still feels very lonely. Twilight Sparkle though originally a hyper-focused student who lacked social skills.  Ever since The Return of Harmony she has become very socially competent and serves almost no purpose anymore Spike a young immature boy, he craves what he sees as important: attention and wealth. Celestia the benevolent ruler, however she doesn't seem to consider herself a deity, even though many do.  She tries to keep her subject at ease, especially on casual visits. Applejack nothing more than a southern stereotype. You'll note that Pinkie Pie isn't on this list, and that's because she doesn't really fit on it.  There has been almost no serious development of Pinkie Pie. I talked to my mom about how weird it was being a brony. I've absolutely kicked that and am fine with being a Brony most of the time. My dad doesn't get it but as he remarked. "There are plenty of worse things" I could be doing. He doesn't see any harm in the show wheras my mother actively likes it. (It may have helped that when she was a girl one of her favorite movies was The Last Unicorn (which having now watched is honestly not too bad) had neighbors who owned horses, and as a teen had a bumper sticker which read "Honk if You Love Unicorns." It kind of followed that she would like MLP.  When it comes to family I would move with confidance maybe expect some good natured teasing, but if their love is jeapordized by you watching a TV show and communicating with other fans you have bigger issues.   On a side note I looked back on my childhood as did some of my brony friends. We came to the disturbing realization we always have watched a fair number of girl shows Sailor Moon, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Cardcaptors etc. Thats not to say we don't have out manly shows Batman the Animated Series, Men in Black: The Series (Both of which you can watch on the Hub incidently)  but we have developed a theory. Bronies are nothing new, rather guys would always have some guilty pleasure (That they either watched with their sisters or did not realize it was for girls (The case with the three girls shows aforementioned) and that the internet enabled us to reach out and reveal in our oddity together. MLP is not so much a unique phenomenon, but rather the first show to take advantage of that unique phenomnon. By being a man's guilty pleasure, they can effectively boost themselves up. It worked. They've sold out on a toy line they havn't even released yet. I had a gay friend (not saying mlp has anything to do with being gay) who introduced me to the show. When he came out of the closet my Dad refused to let him into our house anymore, he also forbid me to speak to this friend ever again. Make a new word for gay marriage (Like Companionship or something hipster like that). I don't think it's very fair to expect a sacred tradition to bend to the whims of one mere community. The fanbase basically ran screaming at Hasbro with TNT strapped to their chest, because Hasbro changed Derpy's voice. They found her old voice to be offensive, so they replaced it, and everyone became butthurt, for lack of a better term. My Derpy folder used to be one of my larger ones, but I deleted it and I will never save a Derpy picture again. The fanbase response to the voice change was abhorrent.
