Title: New Creature races

Okay, so I've been waiting for Wizards to make a new creature race, and they haven't done it sadly, which got me thinking.. I wonder if there are others like me who would like a special creature type based on a fantasy favorite. So this forum will be for you to post your creature type and tell us what this creature type would do with others of its tribe. If you would also like to create your own race, fill us in on what they are like. I'll go first.

Drow

Drow, as some of you might now, are a race of elves with dark skin and red eyes, naturally. They are deceitful and chaotic, with women being the hierarchy. With this information given, I would say that the drow would focus on a positive gain at the cost of one of your creatures, or direct affliction to you. An example

Drow Noble BB

1: Draw a card, you lose 2 life.

Dark Archmage 3BBBBB

T, Sacrifice a creature: Destroy target creature.

And Finally:

Matron Mother of Kriza 7BBB

T, Sacrifice 5 Drow creatures you control: Target player loses 5 life.

My idea, dracocains:
these are pervertions of good dragon's eggs, and although the color of the races, may resemble that of the metallic dragons, they are beings of pure evil, though unlike many other evil races, they have the order and disipline to make a formitable fighting squad



Baaz dracocain: 2B

Bands with other dracocains

You may have up to 8 Baaz dracocains in your deck

aurak dracocain: 4B

Bands with other dracocains

{T}: Aurak dracocain deals 1 damage to target creature or player

Kapak dracocain: 3B

Bands with other dracocains

First strike

Kapak dracocain gains bushido 1 if in a band

Bozak dracocain: 5B

Bands with other dracocains

{T}: prevent the next 1 damage that would be dealt to target creature or player

Sivak dracocain: 6B

Bands with other dracocains

Flying

all creatures in a band with Sivak dracocain gain +1/+1 until end of turn

Kang of 1st engineer regiment: 5B


Bands with other dracocains

{3}: target creature cannot block any creature in a band with Kang of 1st engineer regiment until end of turn

Oh and totally on the drow, that is something i would want to see.

I like all of those, except for the last one

Question about the drow, being that they are a sub-race of the elves, then would their creature type be elf drow or just drow?

Well, I would say no, because it would cause confusion with elf decks, given that Drow hate elves, and vice versa. And the Matron wouldn't be as broken as I made it, I just wanted to give the idea that the matron mother was the most powerful.

my fave creature type is the one that doesnt exist, as on the card Nameless Race.  according to Gatherer on the MTG official site, it has NO creature type.  its just Creature - ___________  epic win.

I've thought about this some myself.....I think there should be something called Riggers. And maybe they would assemble , shoot.....idk......maybe contraptions or something. That would be kinda neat.......maybe.

I have an idea. A race all about numbers, but they have fairly high converted mana costs. All the cards are based on getting out creatures. Another thing, they all have a strength and toughness of 3. Their name is the Racosians. The superior goal for them is to destroy the elves, whom they despise.

Ideas for cards:

Racosian Broodguard  5RR

All tokens you control get double strike.

Racosian Broodmother 3RRR

3: Put a 1/1 red Racosian soldier token into play.

Racosian Broodlord RRRRRRR

All Racosians get +1/+1 for every other Racosian in play. When you control more than 20 Racosians, you win the game.

Racosian Outcast 6R

2: put a 0/1 Racosian Rebel into play.

I don't see what makes the matron so good either, and Racosian are rediculous (esp. the broodlord).

Sorry icuonez but I stand against drows if on principle alone. Lol maybe the anomosity is what would make them good bad guys but from old gaming exp I hate em. Only two good vharatctera ever came from them anyways. Ok enough of the rant.
I love the riggers idea. It could be an artifact/equipment type deck. Say a few artifact creatures that when combined with different combinations of specilized equipment do different things.

equipment A:
equipped artifact creature gains +1/+1
equipment B:
equipped artifact creature gains first strike
equipment C:
" " gains +2/+0

artifact creature A:
when equipped with AB: gains reach
when equipped with AC: gains wither
when equipped with CB: gains exalted 1
cannot have more than two equipments at one time

TigereyeFG: Everybody hates drow. So, in retrospect, everyone would hate drow decks. It's perfect for me. I've always been taken in by the drow (and no, not Drizzt Do'Urden). The brutality of their race is fascinating.

lol I use them in every campaign I DM. The other one is Jarlaxle.. one of my favorite drow, lol. It's just not right to have a campaign without drow.

lol.. Are you sure your dm told you right? The only thing lawful about Drow is their laws of murder, which, basically, is a "don't get caught" policy. Lolth sees failure of stealth as a weakness. The drow are nothing but chaotic.

Plankton... talk about swarming. You have so many different types, too. Some could be Green, because a lot of plankton use photosynthesis. Most would probably be Blue. Make it interesting and throw some Black plankton in there. I'm sure there are some that use dead stuff in the water. There could be a Megaplankton, which is real, that could give plankton you control +1/+1 or something. I'd use a freakin' plankton deck.

I've also thought about having a Magic set that is around now and have weapons from this "plain" and/or era. Artifact Equipment such as pistols, bulletproof vests, etc. A pistol could give a creature +3/+0 and first strike/double strike. Bulletproof vest could give a creature +0/+3 and maybe something like regeneration or maybe even Absorb 1 or 2. Have a computer be an Artifact. You tap it to look at the top 3 cards of your library and put them in any order. A hacker could be a human creature that let's you pay U or something like that and tap to look at an opponents hand and choose and discard one of the cards. The Internet could be an instant or sorcery that let's you look through your library and take a card out and put it on top of your library or into your hand then shuffle. A car could be another Equipment that gives the creature +2/+2 and haste or something. I'm just thinking of things off the top of my head haha.

Poodle, in D&D yeah, but the kobolds in mtg have so much unused potential its not funny

I still don't see why the Matron Mother was broken before it was fixed. If you had 20 drows, why not just attack for the win?

Two gun is definatily right, their is alot of potential left for kobolds that has been untapped (no pun intended) the idea behind kobold is that the basic kobolds are 0/1 for 0 mana, and the other kobolds give bonuses to all kobold, thus allowing free creatures to be rather powerful

Right there are 3 kobolds that cost 0

  This gives you a lot of cheap creatures 12 max and rohgahh boosts your kobold tokens and since kobolds can be played free the upkeep mana isnt a big deal

I would mind seeing Majin's ; A majin is a magical being kinda like a Djinn but his magic is based around evil. I could see these creature type being a Black and Blue hybrid.

I would also like seeing Ninjas make a comeback they barely made an apperance in the Kamigawa block.

Orthurs (Greek myth) Two headed dog.

Valkyrie (Norse Myth) Female spirit that leads souls of dead warriors to Valhalla.

Leprechaun (Irish Myth) - Cobbler spirit, Bring good luck and fortune.

Drow are just an other elven race.

As for new races, instead of looking for them in DnD and mythology, just make a new, weird looking creature with a special characteristic and give it a new name made by you.

I would love to see some type of "construct" creature type. They would all be artifacts, some would tap for mana, and others would have high mana cost activated abilities.

I'd like to see more moonfolk. Esp with the landfall mechanic from Zendikar. Their whole premise is gaining from bouncing lands back to your hand then paying 2 with the Patron Moonfolk and put it back.

I've played since alpha back when I was but a wee lad. As for three kingdoms it was great zodiac dragon is probably my favortite dragon sans vampiric dragon or the dragon mage
