Title: I'm bringing tempered steel back! (To standard specifically)

So yeah...I'm tired of running solar flare...Any suggestions on how to give tempered steel an edge would be appreciated...

Never played the original, but id think in the current meta it would look something like:

x Plains
4 Razorverge thicket
2-4 gavony township
4 vault skirge
4 memnite
4 mox opal
4 glint hawk
4 glint hawk idol
4 signal pest
2-4 dispatch
4 tempered steel
2-4 oblivion ring
2-4 origin spellbomb
x other randumb stuff


Splashing blue for control or black for kill spells and sorin!

You can use Mikaeus to replace Steel Overseer.

Mikaeus lowers your artifact count, has more symbols, only adds to other things, runs out after a few uses, dies to GftT, and you can only have 1 out at a time!

+1/+1 counters are permenant and it works good in my TS deck

Steel Overseer gives +1/+1 counters too.

yes because steel overseer is not standard anymore, however I agree with pinkie it is not a good choice, gavony township is a decent replacement

All in all Temper Steel would play the same way it did, Innstrand didn't really provide anything to help improve it.  Geistcatchers rig is good sideboard for any deck and executioners hood makes equiped creature near unblockable but other then those I can't think of anything

I like Pinkies build, though I will add some inkmoth nexus and add etched champion to the random stuff catagory

Etched champion is probably a good add!

TS got weaker with the core rotation! Steel overseer and ornithoper significantly improved the deck! Township is pretty decent though!

If i were playing this i might also add in 1-3 contested war zones!

In my meta it seems to be alot of differant version of UW, including delver, humans, and a modified version of cawblade with the pike and stalker (can't remember the name).  Wolf run is still running around though not as much.  there is also a decent amount of homebrew especially in the wb and br field and mono green agrro

its basically a uw control deck using delver of secrets.  the goal is to drop it turn 1 transform turn 2 and have it beat face using the counters and bounce spells to protect it

I splashed red using the galvanic blasts and shocks. it pairs well allowing flashback for rally the peasents. I also tried the township in my version of the 2011 runner up deck. hero of bladeholds, etched champions, signal pests, memnites,... etc..     g/w Tsteel sounds like the best way.

Hmmm...it would seem G/W is the only conceivable option...I'm also considering splashing black so I can use sever bloodline/despise...but I like Snowdog's idea of running red too...decisions decisions....
