ok, so ive noticed lately alot of the "COMBO ALREADY POSTED" replies to not only my own combos, but to others as well. and ive decided to say "shut it" lol

If a combo gets posted, with the new forum mechanic in place, then guess what, it wasnt already posted.

It may be a variation on a previously posted combo, or even an improvement, or another combo altogether.

Example is that in my combo : posted here Turbine said "I already posted this except with Seismic Assault. It takes out the extra burn spell." so i went ahead and looked at the combo in question (hadta find it via card search), and while 2 cards in the combo are the same, its not the same combo. yours utilizes seismic assault. mine utilizes cad bloom to discard lands for mass amounts for a burn spell that cannot be countered or prevented. yours can be stopped via Burrenton Forge Tender, or mourners shield or any one of about 90 other cards.

So while one combo may be SIMILAR to another dont go spouting ZOMG ALREADY POSTED in other combos, that are variations or even improvements on other combos. /Vented.

/waits for backlash lol

No backlash from here, frankly I don't have an issue with someone taking a combo and adding there own spin to it or even reposting an old one, it lets people think outside their collections and explore options they might not have thought of or learn about cards they didn't know about. Not to mention there are new people joining this site each day who might not know these old combos, old cards,or just want to explore the options available to them let them see them. If you want to critize what people create saying its already posted or its not a combo go over to essential magic and deal with their crap. Besides its not like the combos we all post weren't influenced by other combos or that we even created the ones we're posting, case in point there was a relentless rats combo posted a while ago, received a lot of good praise, poster was give credit for a great combo. when the reality was he didn't create it, it's been around 4 years prior to him posting, since coldsnap.

I know I'm ranting, point is there is nothing wrong with a person using your combo as a base, in fact its should be considered praise since you created(posted) something people are willing to incorperate into their own game

Well, it's ok if you add something else but if you just copy it from a previously posted combo that has been deleted then the person that originally posted the combo deserves some credit right?

absolutely, IF you copy it. which i didnt. yes it does happen occasionally, and when someone borrows from someone else's combos it gets posted. i believe you, shakii, have personally given credit in one or two, amirite? but every combo i post gets thought up in my own head. and sadly since i dont bother to look if it was already posted or not, i will post it. because the way i see it, if it successfully posts, then ITS A NEW COMBO lol.

i guess its easier to just spam ALREADY POSTED instead of linking to the previous post, which would actually be better anyways, since it allows side-by-side comparison of the combos and a chance to see if the two are interchangeable or synergistic.

but who's to say who orignally posted it and personally I don't think it matters at the level in which we share thoughts and ideas. Now if we were talking about the next breakthrough of combustable engines then that will be a different matter. but we are not, we are talking about combos in a card game. Can the first person who posted the panoptic/time walk combo on this site really take credit for a combo that existed 3 years before the site. Its not like there is prize money that goes to the best combo maker, there is not even a rating system (which I like by the way). This site is a way we can share our ideas about a game we enjoy and hopefully improve upon them as well as learn something new no matter who posted it.

I feel the need to add-opinions expressed are that of the author and not of site and its webmaster, or its affilitated networks

Also I think there is an expiry date on Combos. I posted a combo which had apparently already been posted, but when I do a search the original doesn't show up - http://www.mtgcombos.com/view.php?fid=2&tid=4999

I wasn't criticizing your combo. I was just saying that I had my own version.

Also, while mine can be stopped, it also needs one less card, and can destroy creatures.

Take a moment to ponder this. If an artist sees something that inspires him, and he decides to draw that something(Oh, let's say a drawing of a pink ninja wielding a knife .) And he decides to draw the exact replica of said ninja, but instead of it being pink I make it blue, with a sword. It has become original in it's own sense. Get it?

Though, looking back onto pladerism laws, you may have to give the person who drew that origanal ninja some credit
