Title: tournament ideas

So, I know the EDH tournament Twogun set up is still going on, but I'm bored and want to do another one.

But what... EDH is fun and won't mind doing it again, with Dark Asencion out wouldn't mind doing a standard, and I have always liked Modern, and alot of people like legecy.

So if we were to do another tournament would format would people want to play?

Peasant is all commons with the exception of 5 uncommons according to the format description. The next variant I have in mind is Nobility, which doesn't allow any mythics or special rares, but will allow the player a total of 5 rares and any commons and uncommons they wish to play. (Not sure if it's actually called Nobility, but that's my name for it.)

There is also Artisan (2 rares up to ten uncommons)

And King (1 Mythic 5 Rares rest of the deck unrestricted)

Had another idea (Based on Lin Sivvi's idea.) How about a core set tournament using only the coresets 4th-10th (Ignoring M10-12 because of the titans). It would be quite challenging for certain.

lol I was gonna say alpha pinkie xD but they are the same series, just beta has volcanic island

but Ill join as long as its not the formats I dont enjoy (T2, Standard, Extended, Etc)

I prefer the more weird, out there variants

That too, Honestly while arabian nights is never used, too many cards would ruin it, its like Tempest, if we did Tempest I would expect half the decks to be Sliver rush or Sliver combo


I think using the schemes in archenemy would be interesting, or the planes in Planechase would be kinda cool (Ive never played a game with them though so I am interested)

Honestly this one expansion game sounds pretty fun, probably not many insane combos will be used, but I could be wrong

Ok so far its seems we have

Pauper

peasant

hero-??

Core sets only 4th-10th

single expansion builds

planechase (archenemy is way to multiplayer based)

 

So can we narrow it down some-I'm personally liking pauper or the core set only.  Though to be honest I don't know what the Hero format is.  Can you explain Lin?

Like I said, I've never played either, they sound fun though

Im enjoying the sound of Single Expansion Builds, and actually another Format Ive played before and its pretty fun is a 15 card version of Highlander, heres a link to the rules

A name coined by my play group, don't think it goes beyond that, but its just all sets between 4th and pre magic 2010.  The result is a format without many overpowered cards, and with a lot of available cards.  We also play without the 2010 rules change.

Its my favorite mostly because it is the cheapest.

Also, we had lightning bolt banned . . . because we thought it was a bit to good.

I don't think anyone has a clue what we're going to do for next tournament...we have a lot of good ideas so far...hmmm...How about a different battlefield condition each match.

For example:

Round 1: EDH + Planeschase

Round 2: 40 card highlander + Archenemy

Round 3: (you get the point).

Ok pairing differant things, works for me, hopefully we get enough for 3 rounds, we will start off simple adding the planechase in round 2.  going to stay away edh though not as many people play it.

you forgot centurion!

and my playgroups house rules for pauper edh is that you run a non legend rare as the general and a deck of uncommons and commons under five dollars. that might be way different than the actual rules.

Well I haven't heard of the under $5 rule, but the rest Ive heard, and I found the banned list, no serra ascendent as a general =(

i think that's just a house rule my playgroup uses. it eliminates stuff like sensei's and isochron.

and centurion doesn't really sound like fun anyway.
