Title: It had to be asked (Anticipating Dark Ascension)

Welcome back to it had to be asked. The question this time is very simple...

What are you expecting, wanting, or hoping for in Dark Ascension?

Me personally...nothing...unless they make a better Wurmcoil Engine...I'm good...but what about everyone else?

Wurmcoil is already ridiculously strong...!

And theyre not making a flip legend! Rosewater said the mechanics would be too confusing, overcomplicated, and easy to abuse!

I'm just waiting for them to make the UR planeswalker. UR I think is the best combination to deal with the overpowered-ness that is W and B right now. A really good UR could change the tide.

i don't think it would be that confusing, they already did a flip planeswalker and kamigawa flip legends.

I think it would be nice if they made a White-Green planeswalker. I'm hoping for more countermagic and removal.

Support for red. I agree ur could close the gap to bw but red is holding it back. sure it got some stuff but nothing truely fantastic. Bring back cards like pyroclasm and volcanic fallout

Regardless of what you think, rosewater said it wasnt happening, so...! (No offense, its just not happening!)
(If you want it for a werewolf though, its been strongly implied that theres going to be a 1-sided werewolf legend!)

Well, we do have shock, geistflame, gut shot (One of my favorite burn spells!), arc trail, galvanic blast, volt charge, brimstone volley, and incinerate!

Speak for yourself. I killed Jace the Mindsculpter. I made a Type 2(at the time) mono-red deck that beat both Valakut Ramp and Caw Blade( before Jace and Stoneforge were banned).

I think the people you were playing against were really bad, because mono red sucked in zen/scars! The only good card was goblin guide, and half the time that just ramped into a turn 1 stoneforge mystic/squadron hawk!

Yeah Mechanist, if you're so unbelievably good to be able to build a rogue deck that could beat what the pros were playing, then you wouldn't consistently post such horrible combos. I'm pretty such that something was wrong with the people you were playing against.

SOME of my combos suck but my decks are another story. Honestly I think the reason my combos suck is because all of my decks are synergy instead of combo therefore my combos are PARTIALLY synergy.

I think the best advice for you when making combos, is that you don't need to keep using the same cards. Go to gatherer, just click on random card until you find some unique, obscure old card that just asks to be abused. Even if its just synergy, its far better than your repetitive submissions of the same thing with just slight adjustments.

So has anyone taken a peek at all the spoilers yet?



I kind of feel like they addressed a lot of the things I wanted in Dark
Ascension (boost werewolves, more interesting flip cards, more options
for curses, more devils, etc). But I can't help but feel rather
underwhelmed overall.



Immerwolf was a great idea, but it doesn't really help the werewolves'
problem. One doom blade or shock and Immerwolf is dead, and all your
opponent needs to do is cast one more spell and poof, all your
werewolves are useless again. I think an equipment that prevents the
creature its equipped to from transforming would have been a more
interesting card.



There's a few intriguing flip cards, but I think most of them are pretty
"out there" and would require building a deck around (Chalice of Life /
Death) that would ultimately end up being very disappointing. Most
people tend to hate this mechanic and I didn't see any card that's
likely to change anyone's mind.



But the biggest problem of this whole set seems to be mana cost. A curse
deck may have been viable and interesting, but Curse of Misfortunes and
Curse of Thirst both cost 5 mana. By the time you get them out, if you
even can, it will probably be moot point. I was hoping to make a cheap
MTGO curse deck, but it just does not seem worth it.



I was thinking of doing a physical draft with a few friends, since I've
never actually done a draft before, but now that I've seen the cards I
just don't think it would be worth it. Aside from a few good
commons/uncommons, most appear to be total garbage, and I have enough
no-good magic cards taking up space around the house as it is, LoL.
