Hey guys! Its been a while and I know you all missed me (Jk). So I decided to do a set review of Innistrad.

So here we go!

Pro's:

Double Faced Cards

Lots of good $ cards

Garruk Relentless (the first double faced planeswalker!!....More to come?)

Lilianna of the Veil (here let me split your deck into two piles and make you discard one of them ;) )

Lots of good theme based decks (U/W Spirits (my favorite), G/W Humans, B/R Vamps, U/B Zombies, R/G Werewolfs (my second favorie) )

Nevermore (Just because its and Edar Aleen Poe reference)

Con's

Too many reapeats! (I pulled 10 kessig wolf's,  6 Delver of Secrets,  and 7 Curses of Oblivion...WTF?!?)

Morbid (Too hard to base a deck off of)

Devil's (too expensive mana wise and not worth the p/t and abilities)

Foils (harder to get in this set than others)

In total I bought 30 packs.

Enjoy your gaming!

I don't know how much I agree with any of this. Double-sided cards are a pain really, and although I understand their significance from a flavour standpoint, pragmatically they're a nuisance. I think almost every set has cards that sold for lots of money when first released, so money and cards seems like a pointless comparison. Garruk was disappointing as a planeswalker. I agree that Liliana is very nice, although from your comment it sounds like you think her ultimate affects decks which it doesn't (permanents are only in the battlefield zone, not graveyard or decks or hands). It had great flavour as a whole which was refreshing coming out of the rather stale Mirrodin Block.

I'm surprised you didn't mention one of my favorite pros to this set, that there's a much greater chance of pulling two rares (and even the opportunity to pull three) in a single pack. I think that's pretty sweet personally.

Sorry for the mistakes =/

I was tired lmao...Very tired.

I would have to agree that Mirrodin was very stale.

I find double face cards very effective in my opinion, and yes they are kind of a pain with the flipping, sleveing, and listing. But over all they are very unique cards.

Garruk is'nt that great, I just thought the idea of a double face walker was cool.

I have to say I do like this set flavor-wise, especially the double-faced cards, but I think it was implemented poorly. The first forms should have been normal cards, while the transformed versions should have just been tokens. Sure it would have been a pain to have to collect tokens, but it would have been better than how it is now. I pieced together cards for a werewolf deck and having to mark the tokens and remember which cards are which (the tokens only tell you the name / casting cost), isn't really worth the effort.

I do love me the blue zombies though. Having to exile creatures from your graveyard... it's like you're piecing together corpses and reanimating them. And the Undead Alchemist is just hilarious - turning your mobs into library-munching maniacs.

It's already leaps and bounds better than the last two sets. Infect and Eldrazi can both go die in a fire.
