Title: It had to be asked (Levels of play)

Hello, sorry it took so long to get back I was playing heroclix for like a solid month with no regard for this website or magic the gathering Waiting and watching the metagame for....reconassance purposes....So I'm back and I must ask...What is your prefered level of play and why?

My favorite level of play is Casual, because planeswalking EDH is where it's at...that and you can crossover with heroclix for even more sweetness...030...

Heroclix I approve. Dang it time to break em out again. I'm with you on casual. Homemade formats are the best.

Casual is fun, but it limits you! Whats really annoying is when people play competitive decks in casual environments! Thats when you break out the hermit druid deck and kill the competitive player and then concede and let the game continue!

Yeah but does heroclix flaunt the undead sexyness like MTG?

What is Heroclix, and, on a scale from 1-10, how radical is it?

Its a miniatures fighting game based off of mostly DC and Marvel Comics characters. A few INDYs and and a few other comic books Give it an 8/10.

Now Krowbar for undead sexyness you need to go to horrorclix. Heroclix's zombie cousin.

I like competitive, but there is no more competitive players near me. Everyone else only want to draft and I hate draft. I would love to find a casual group if I could.

I play mostly casual. But, I have modern and standard decks. I would love to find more people that play in my area. I'm also thinking of going to Friday Night Magic's at my local shops. However, it seems people at those are pretty competitive and get mean about the game, so I don't know.

Yeah but if you play warhammer you get to spend lots of money and time assembling and painting everything! Obviously so much better!

Warhammer is just not practical for the working man though, maybe for the geek who has no life, or for the spoiled straight A Manchild bumming off his parents for college, then there are time constraints, etc... But with heroclix it's bam! 30 minutes of teambuilding and scenario, and pow! Let's get it started!

Yeah, i tried warhammer for a bit but it was kind of boring...! (Not to mention expensive and time-consuming!)

This is the reason I left magic in the first place. People believe it's their life!

I play competitively and casually and it's all on the situation.

It had been building to the day I put the cards away. Then I go to a friend's house and there are like 5 players at the table all playing and I play a lock deck and house rules are that it'll lock everyone so basically the game suddenly becomes boring and one of my cards got taken out so the lock is effecting me too, but I can keep it going. People are straight asking me to let the lock die and I was like nope, if it ends up winning me the game then that's how it works. I pull a card that I think I can win with and I drop the lock long enough to let another person cast something that took out 4 players and unfortunately it got me by 1 point in the process and one of the other guys starts screaming at me. I was pretty much done. In 100 years nobody is going to care if you had the ability to ever summon a Hurloon Minotaur or not.

If you're going to play the game, choose the casual people you like to play with casually and play anyone in competitive.

Unfortunately Friday Night Magic doesn't lend itself to anything but competitive players.

So true. That's why you need to hang out with people who are sick of FNM.

In 2011 a crack team of magic players grew sick of FNM.

They promptly escaped their sanctioned play to the Washington DC underground

If you have a deck no one else can beat and if you can find them maybe you can play

The A-Team

Hero play (our own thing) every game you have to use a different one of your decks, you can't reuse a deck in the same sitting (unless given premission) legacy legality, except all cards that would be restricted are banned.

Also, I haven't actually played any Magic in a year or so, but I've kept up to date!

TWOGUN!

The A-Team uses a Tim deck that for some reason never hits its target, but they still manage to win!

WHAT GIVES!

I am a casual player and i enjoy the formats that players make up, but when playing competatively i prefer limited, usually draft because it is a lot of fun building decks out of a smaller card pool.

i'm a fan of two headed giant, playing it using edh decks is way intense.

turbine or lin, explain the logic of playing magic...without cards. I don't understand!

2hg games take WAY too long!

Also, online magic is great because you dont have to drop 200 dollars for a good mana base, and if you want a GOOD deck, you dont have to pay shitloads of money! Also no shuffling!

I only play casual with friends. I mean casual in a rather loose sense, just meaning that we try to keep it "fair."

Aside from just playing with friends, I tried Magic Online for a while, but considering the immensity of my cheapness, it grew pretty frustrating losing to people playing mythic rare after mythic rare against my (max) $4 deck.

I'll have to give Cockatrice a try. If it lets me playtest ridiculous deck ideas like an Essence of the Wild deck without having the pony up the cash first then I'm all for it.

And I think it looks retarded. Everything about your avatar says "bend me over and kick my ass because I'm ten years old and have no taste in anything". Then again, if you're an outsider coming in here and you see a crapload of pony avatars, you would probably say the same for anyone else here.

However, I stand by my first statement. I'm not liking the avatar, Mech Narc.

Disturbed's good but my favorite metal bands are A Dark Halo and Dust for Life. A Dark Halo being super heavy and using harmonics and Dust for Life being alternative metal. I also like American Pearl, Breaking Point, The Superjesus, Deftones, Julien K, Hollywood Undead, and just recently discovered, Skrillex.
