Whats the STRANGEST edh deck youve ever seen? (strange, meaning as in... a wierd tribal theme, or does wierd mechanics, or different than most edh decks, etc...)

what did the deck do really? (or if you have the patience, what was the decklist? XD )

the strangest ive seen is actually one that i was making,
it uses Heidar, Rimewind Master as the general, and many cards for untapping to tap it over and over to return stuff to your opponents hand :) ,
the strategy is to keep returing things to your opponents hand to stall the game, then wait until you get big threats that will kill ;)
alternatively - i could have made it that your return your opponents creatures to their hand, then attack, with enchantments on it so that it hits for alot o.o

My buddy made a goblin edh deck using some red and black 3/3 goblin that returns a goblin from the graveyard to his hand every upkeep. It's pretty good because his goal to kill all his own goblins while blocking your creatures. So he tries to drop gravepact (usually gets countered) or goblin bonbardment (sac a goblin do 1 point of damage to target creature or player) and just sac's his stuff out from under the attack either killing ur creatures or you. Since goblins have a ton of ways to search themselves out it is one of the most consistent edh decks i've ever seen. add kiki jiki and goblin wizard and if left unchecked he can go crazy. The funny thing is we all realized that if you attack his enchantments and artifacts and force him to keep his goblins in play, he usually loses. Goblin just get run over then. Beat him by trying to keep his creatures in play!!! Funny.

I play a welcome to oblivion deck in edh...it's pure grief, using cards that discard cards from everyones hands and kills everyone's creatures (Plague wind, damnation, ect..), my general is usually Malfegor...but I generally never have anything to discard due to mind swords, delirium skeins, ect...there is no real gameplan...just pure grief...and 1 liliana...because she's grief...

My friend built a mishra combo that revolved around blood funnel+top! Consistently comboed out turn 3-5! He could beat most tier 1 decks consistently and 5c hermit druid occasionally!

@pinkie
You know we're talking edh right? I don't see how that works in edh.

@dakkon
it's can be quite brutal. things u might not think of that we found very wrong.
1. Anything that lets u sac w/o a cost is awesome. bonus points if its tribal so u can use goblin search to fetch it.
2. recruiter can hurt u as much as help. Since u stack ur deck early with recuiter by usually searching him out what u end up doing is going several turns w/o even the possibility of drawing a land. this can put u behind the mana curve which can slow u down. If u choose to recuiter make sure u include that stupid goblin that lets u sac other goblins for red mana and the ringleader to clear the top of your library.
3. Keep some mass removal laying around. They're just goblin so every once in awhile you may need to board clear and you should restart faster with ur commander and oversold cemetary. (Brutal card for edh)

Good luck

what about a rosheen meanderer EDH?
with copperhorn scout and nature's chosen,
it could give you access to potentially 12 mana by turn 4 :)

I just tried EDH over the weekend and thought it was pretty fun. The game lasted a bit too long though, and honestly I prefer to keep things more casual, mostly because I prefer "fun" decks versus efficient decks.

With that in mind, does anyone have any ideas on how to make a Phelddagrif EDH deck? After playing EDH I realized I must make this happen.

Yes rav, nobody plays 5c hermit druid in anything other than edh! Just because you dont understand a combo doesnt mean it doesnt work!

@whatever the hell your name is

to start out I would try and seriously exploit the ability to give your opponent tokens, and of course make sure they don't benefit from it.  That in mind these cards you will definiatly want:
Defense of the Heart
Suture Priest
Angel's Trumpet
Dingus Staff
On top of that you'll naturally want some stall and some mass killing, the creatures you put into your deck should be toughness at least 2.  Good luck.

Well that could be a good idea, except that he didnt specify whether he wanted to make a group hug deck or a "good" deck!

@that person
You cant have a "fun" deck and a short game! Its one or the other! You can have a scion deck that combos turn 2-5, or you can have a group hug deck, that loses turn 10-40!

I actually prefer longer matches too, but this one was going on for a good 3 hours or so, which kind of propelled it beyond fun and more into a case of "somebody just win the game already!"

I got the idea of using the flying purple hippo because one of the EDH decks we played with had the tranny-looking minotaur goat thing that gains benefits by donating cards to people.

The deck seems pretty limiting given the colors, though. Maybe I'll make an EDH deck with Norin the Wary instead...

Most time we finish an EDH game in 1 -2 hrs. But certain decks can really slow it down. The political puppets deck, i have a counter deck with ertai as the commander, decks like that can make it a drag. Its fun with agro decks, or in pentag or things that can speed it up. Ever since we played a 6& 1/2 hr marathon with the political puppets deck not letting anyone die, it got banned in my normal group.

One of my friends refused to play with anything besides the political puppets precon until he won a game with it!

What's funny is political puppets didn't even really do anything, except make enemies, LoL. I think he was kinda mana screwed most of the match though.

What dragged it out was that whenever someone started to get powerful, there was either a board wipe, or enough removal / direct damage spells flying around to even things out again. I think my favorite was when someone cast ray of command, copied it, stole two of my creatures, sac'ed one to the other, then proceeded to kill almost all the rest of my creatures with it and itself in the process.

Anyway, I gotta come up with some kind of wacked out EDH deck though. I'm really liking Norin the Wary. If that deck ever won it would be f-ing epic.
