Title: Best Villian of All Time?

Your opinion and why.

I was originally going to go with Magneto and the idea that he is so far lost that he thinks he is doing good, but I thought back and realized he wasn't the first like that.

So I go with Victor Hugo's Javert or Frollo (honestly they are pretty similar)

They both think they are doing God's will by persecuting others. I think villians are most disturbing when they think they are doing good. It cuts the ease of which they can be condemneed or not, and adds mountains of complexity to their character.

Honorable Mentions

Magneto

Senator Payne (Mr. Smith goes to Washington)

The Joker (About Mark Hamill's level of crazy)

Dracula (though some versions he is more of the protagonist)

Fine...I vote for Unicron, because he's like galactus with a power suit...

Tough question. There are so many options, some of my thoughts..

Javert is on the list for sure and also from les mis the Thenardier's were great characters

Nurse Ratched-one flew over the cuckoos nest- she is what dictator's want to be, ruling the ward through absolute power, even her superiors gave into her.  while she controled the ward through fear, suppression of meds and rewards, the kindness she exhibit with the underline power overtones made her great

Frankensteins monster-not the movie version but mary shelleys book version- a villian in the sense he was the antagonist in the story- granted life then turned away by his creator, abandoned by humanity seeks vengence on said creator,  the way he was written especially from victors perspective made him someone you feel sorry for

Some of James Pattersons villians were really good to, not best of all time level, but entertaining, especially gary sonagi, kyle craig, geoffery schaffer

Victoria - from the twqilight saga! After edward killed james, she was all like "Whoa you killed my boyfriend in self defense cause he was just trying to kill your girlfriend just cause he felt like it, so now im gonna go kill you!" Thats so unreasonable! He was trying to kill them for no good reason! And then cause she was too weak to actually kill them herself she made that dumb army of newborns and even though they were supposed to kill the swans and the cullens they were like "hey lets kill lots of random people!"

They are all (Save any Twilight references) good villains, but I think I am going to have to go with Samuel L. Jackson's character in Unbreakable. Here he was, just helping the hero to recognize his potential, then turns out to be the arch-nemesis!

Though my honorable mentions would have to be:
Darth Vader
Verin Mathwin (The Wheel of Time)
Magneto
Emperor Jagang (Sword of Truth)
Ghaleon (Lunar series)
Sephiroth (Final Fntasy VII)

@Darth sorry bu tEmperor Jagang has nothing on Darken Rahl! The guy buried a child in the garden of life up to his neck, then made him eat molten lead through a giant funnel. He even used wizardry to make it taste like cherry pie!

@Kryo

Wouldn't making the molten lead taste better when being force fed to you be a good thing, relatively speaking you still are forcefeeding them lead.=?

Pinkie Pie is the worst villian. She has a lot of screws loose in her head.

@Krowbar - You're right, Darken Rahl was a bad ass baddie! Also, he made it taste like blueberry pie, not cherry. However, Darken Rahl knew he was 'evil', while Jagang thought that he was on the side of right and morality. As said in a previous post above, the villains are always more evil when they think that they are doing good.

The guy from serenity wasnt too bad! He was doing what he thought was right, and trying to make an ideal society! The government in serenity is probably worse for killing that entire planet, or the mauler thingies whose names i dont remember! Theyre f-in crazy, and they eat people!
