Title: Looking for Casual Life-Gain Combos

I have a deck idea floating around that requires gaining a lot of life to work. I play strictly with casual (some very casual players), so I don't want anything over-the-top like infinite life gain or things like that. Since I only play casual, I like to keep the $$$ cost low as well.

The idea for the deck is to gain life and use cards that require paying life, like Minion of Wastes, Souldrinker, Bond of Agony, Plague of Vermin, so I'm obviously going mostly for Black, but I was thinking of splicing with white for the life gain.

Any suggestions?

have you considered any of the soul sisters?

Well, if you're going to be gaining life at any point, it'd be good to have cards like Boon Reflection and (if you can find one) Reverse Polarity. The first doubles any amount of file gained; the second effectively turns any damage done to you by artifacts into gained life.

In fact, those two cards plus a Jinxed Idol make for good constant life gain every turn as seen here.

nice idea, one of my favorite casual decks uses the same idea,  its a RBW and uses cards like volcano hellion and fire covenant for direct damage to creatures using cards like reprecussion and ragged veins.  ad nausaum provides the draw.  wall of blood and rite of consumption works great in it, .  phyrexian processor and soul's fire adds a solid finishing touch

But to answer your question, I don't worry so much about life gain but instead about gaining my life back.  tainted sigil and children of korlis fit the bill, especially when the children are combined with grim harvest for continue use. rite of consumption and souls grace work well with what else is in the deck

Good suggestions so far. I'm thinking I really like the idea of Plague of Vermin with Suture Priest. Maybe going the lifelink route would be good too, for creatures like Minions of Waste, Soul Drinker, and Wall of Blood. Wall of Blood in particular seems to be perfect for lifelink.

And with Boon Reflection you'd always come out ahead.
