So Modern seems to be kicking off as the new and official format. There have been several articles that have been written about it and have all given reasons on why it was considered and implemented.

I wish to see what ideas others can come up with for updated versions of older decks to fit the format. Remember Modern Format is from 8th Edition to the current set. The current official banned list is:

  • Ancestral Vision
  • Ancient Den
  • Bitterblossom
  • Chrome Mox
  • Dark Depths
  • Dread Return
  • Glimpse of Nature
  • Golgari Grave-Troll
  • Great Furnace
  • Hypergenesis
  • Jace, the Mind Sculptor
  • Mental Misstep
  • Seat of the Synod
  • Sensei's Divining Top
  • Stoneforge Mystic
  • Skullclamp
  • Sword of the Meek
  • Tree of Tales
  • Umezawa's Jitte
  • Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle
  • Vault of Whispers
  • I was wondering on how this might effect some of the key stone decks that players have long known. I decided to judge the effects by creating a 2nd Generation Goblin Tribe deck.

    2 adaptive automation

    3 ember hauler

    2 frenzied goblin

    4 goblin chieftain

    3 goblin king

    4 goblin guide

    3 goblin wardriver

    2 seige-gang commander

    4 warren instigator

    4 rite of flame

    4 tezzeretes gambit

    2 rise of the hobgoblins

    2 arid mesa

    4 scalding tarn

    4 steam vents

    2 tectonic edge

    10 mountain

@legend-whats with the hivestone, you will only have 1 creeature out at a time that is not a sliver already.  seems like a waste.   maybe replace it with some tutors to bring your pieces together

    • 4 Fetid Heath
    • 4 Goddless Shrine
    • 4 Marsh Flats
    • 4 caves of koilis
    • 3 plains
    • 3 swamps
    • 2 Deathbringer Liege
    • 3 still moon caviler
    • 3 nip gwylion
    • 3 mourning thrull

Agreed. Enduring Renewal seems out of place as well. The whole reason you have haakon and ashes is to pull off infinite black combos. throwing in a white card seems unnecessary, when you should save the space for more graveyard shenanigans like buried alive or devastating effects like death cloud. Just in my opinion. You might be better off mono-black without the white splash.
