I have a Call of the Kor deck.   Lets say I have a 2/2 warrior en vec, (0): redirect 1 damage to target creature or player. and a 1/1 Nomad en Kor,  My opponet is attacking with a 4/4 creature.  Can I block with my warrior en Kor, redirect all damage to my nomad to make him take 4 damage??  Why I'm confused on this matter is that creatures dont  goto the graveyard until after the combat phase, right?  So creatures can take damage more than their toughness can take during comabt?  Honestly I think I'm bass ackwards in my thinking, but I need you guys to straighten me out.

Thanks,

Yes, you can redirect all the damage to Nomads en-Kor. However, if you have many 2/2 creatures, you could just redirect one damage to each and let them all survive.

The only thing to really remember is First Strike and Double Strike (the First Strike part).

If something is First Strike damage and it's lethal damage it will go to the graveyard before the normal damage is dealt out.  So you'll need to activate the Kor early if you want it to live to deal out it's damage.

Why I'm confused on this matter is that creatures dont goto the graveyard until after the combat phase, right?

No, they go to the grave during the combat phase

There are 5 steps in the combat phase: beginning, declare attack, declare, block, combat damage step, end combat

All damage is dealt at the beginning of the combat damage step (kors ability needs to be played for that) when damage is dealt 4 damage will be redirected to the nomad (yes any amount of damage can be dealt to a creature, even greater then its toughness).  the creature then dies.  then the games moves into the end combat stage.

They changed the rules of combast with M10

Of course, you can proliferate any permanent with counters on it. Planeswalkers fall into that category. Planeswalkers are also affected by doubling season and other counter based effects.
