There are some cards that stick out to you not so much for their power, but the versitlity they have, for me it would be:

Being able to use this on yourself allowing you to re-order the top of your library or just dump it.  Or even use it on your opponent to know what they have coming and even move some cards around, or prevent them from getting a dangerous card.  Mix it with long term plans for a powerful search, with urza's glasses or the like, you can keep careful tabs on what combos your opponent is try to pull off.

And if all that wasn't enough its a cantrip, for one mana, practically free.

I like versatile cards.  I like options.  I really don't have a big list, but I recently came upon Sign in Blood.

It's a card draw advantage for yourself, or damage for your opponent, or an extra mill if you need it and I think it would pretty much have a place in most of my decks.

Hard to top a Black Lotus... but since I've never had the priveledge of owning one, I'll keep my list to my experiences. Having said that, my current favorite is...

Proteus Staff

Fun to roll the dice and gamble to see if you can get a better creature for yourself or maybe make theirs a little worse...

Master Transmuter for artifacts. Once, I used it to gain an extra mana from Sol Ring. (^_^)

I tend to find Fire/Ice to be pretty versatile - especially on a stick :)

Ponder is also excellent - it's a Portent that only affects you, but you get to draw a the card straight away instead of waiting for it! Well worth the restriction IMO.

I like the staff's ability to draw cards, but 4 mana to tap a creature is pretty useless, and the untapping is situationally useful, the gaining life is nice, but not very powerful

@Zark-The_Damned

Are you kidding, getting the card right away is better than waiting and being able to look at your opponents library, I don't believe that is well worth it.  Ponder is much worse than portent.  Also I hope you realize that it is at the beginning to the next turns, not your next turn, which works out well to get a counterspell, unsummon or something.
