For those of you who dont know what the card does, heres a picture.

So, i love cards that make copies of things...
i already can picture myself making a deck with this and doubling season to make more copies when i copy creatures :)

but A QUESTION SOMEONE?
y'know that card that makes the "legendary" rule not apply?
well, if you had that in play would you be able to make a copy of riku as it comes into play then...?

There is a mirror card from kamigawa block that allowed folks to disregard it. I think it was mirror gallery, or something like that.

Card is mirror gallery

no, notice how it says "when another nontoken creature".  however if you had riku and the gallery out then play another one you can copy the 2nd one using the 1st.

http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/productarticle.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/commander/cig

i cant decide which i like best...
im tied between animar, damia, the mimeoplasm, and kaalia

(which, btw.. kaalia is AMAZING, a card thats for a deck that is demon, angel AND dragon tribal, and puts one of those types from your hand into play?! :D )

Animar, Soul of Elements

And was i the only one that was thinking with animar...
That it would be AMAZING with graft?! (i mean, because of his 3rd ability... :P ...)

Riku does not limit the number of times you can copy a spell or creature. Its a fast effect that you pay at the correct time. You are limited by your mana supply, but riku himself does not tap or say "use this ability one once per card/spell/creature/whatever". That's why i can never get riku to stay in play for more than about 3 seconds.

No, you can only copy each spell once. Even though it doesn't say "activate only once per spell", its a triggered affect. When you cast a spell, the ability triggers and you may pay to make a copy, but you can only copy for each trigger, and the copies don't trigger the ability a second time to be recopied. Compare it to a creature like Sigil Tracer, which instead copies through an activated ability. Since you can use the ability over and over as long as you can pay, you can make multiple copies, but Riku can not. If he could, I'm sure I'd see a lot more use of him as a general.

Found the ruling that supports this:
603.2c An ability triggers only once each time its trigger event occurs. However, it can trigger repeatedly if one event contains multiple occurrences.

It only triggers once, so it can only be copied once

I dont know the decklist... but i know there was foodchain along with alot of creatures that let you draw when it comes into play. together that turns into drawing and making more and more mana till you get huge creatures. XD

there was animar,
foodchain,
birds of paradise,
coiling oracle,
sea gate oracle,
wall of blossoms,
emrakul and the other eldrazi titans,
and the rest i cant remember, but its amazing how many times it would win o.o

Could you please provide a scenario where he gets Emrakul out by turn 4? I'm not seeing it.

Glimpse of Nature is devastating in Animar decks. I played against a guy who played it, then used eternal witness to return it to his hand, and then played it again. He didn't have food chain, so I think he used Phyrexian Altar instead, but all that draw is dangerous in an Animar deck. Mana Severance is brilliant by the way, didn't even think about how good that card could be in this scenario.

Only if you are sure you're going to win though. Don't want to be stuck without land.

After looking at all of this, I want to build a Food Chain deck. . .

It just sound so remarkable in EDH to open with these cards in hand... 3 games in a row he pulls Emrakul in turn 2-4? Improbable odds indeed.

My bad... He was talking about a LEGACY deck, not EDH. Odds increased.

In the example :

I don't see how the Food Chain combo works with animar

Yes, you're getting a lot of creatures for next to nothing, but where are you getting the color mana? food chain doesn't add color mana to your mana pool. and unless i'm missing some I don't see anything else that's adding color mana to play the creature spells.

your missing that food chain does as a matter of fact add colored mana
