So earlier today me and Hungry were playing a game, and well an argument broke out as to when it is that mana drains from your mana pool.  He claimed, that because I produced the mana during my upkeep, that it went away for my draw phase, but I have always been under the impression that it stays until the end of the turn.  Who is right, him, me, or did the rules change?

The new rules state that mana empties out as phases end. This is because WOTC thought new players would be to stupid er retarded er idiotic  confused to grasp a complicated concept as floating mana. Not to mention it makes any card that let's you float mana seem a bit more awesome...but I don't think that was the intent with the rule changes.

So, he was right about mana I got in my upkeep going away before my main phase?

mana pools empty at end of upkeep phase and before draw phase. mana pools empty at end of all phases. He is correct.
