I really think that Ally's are meant to be yet another Red Headed Step Child of WOTC. Joining the ranks of such fabled creature types as Kobold, and Ouphe. May we have a moment of silence for these once loved cards.....DyingJester "Shhhh".......(cough)........(scratches butt)......

Thank you everyone for your respects to a now dying bread. Good day.

A dying breed? Hardly the case. Bant allies can be quite brutal, Boros allies are also quite quick and aggro like, and Naya allies actually have a little control going for them. While not something we will hear about in a top decks article, allies are still very much played as casual decks and can surprise you with it's level of power in the right scenario. So no moment of silence for allies, instead I'm going to build an Ally deck that is actually competetive enough for tournament style play.

PS: This is a rare moment for me, an actual degree of seriousness in my post just for the record and do not take the above statement as sarcasm, I am dead serious about this project.

I agree with Dyingjester, Allies still have some life in them especiaqlly in the casual circuit, however, as for standard while they did not have alot of support in the past I feel they got they have been gotten some with the new set.  Xenograft in particular will be a powerful support card for allies, while bant is powerful I would expect to see more of RGU allies instead with varying degrees of blue from a full spread to just a splash.  I think you'll see a decline in the number of allies in the decks instead replaced by greater activation of triggers, for example brood birthing will allow you to  activate each trigger 3 times for 1R.  and then I can sac them for  mana to play another hatcher for 4 more triggers.  Hell, the ally combo recently posted alone is powerful enough for competive play.

anyway I do think they haven't gone by the waste side, and still have some some life left in them.

Why don't you put in Bloodbraid Elf? It almost always gets an Ally, and if it doesn't, it just gets a good card.

Bloodbrade elf is a great card but it just doesnt fit into the tribal theme.
