Title: Bitter flavor

I knew that the concept of casual play was a pointless endevour for my playgroup, the idea of not playing competetively just seem to be a horrifying notion for them. So instead I tried building competetive storyline styled builds that would at least make the game a bit more like the fantasy it represents. Instead I ended up with a lot of insults thrown at the decks for their lack of gameplay synergy (it would appear phyrexian rebirth should not be played alongside any form of black whatsoever and should instead be used in a mono-white build as a finisher.) So now my casual has become casualty and the flavor has become bitter. Anyone else having similar occursions in there playgroups? If not it may be I just need a new playgroup.

It all has to do with the group, one of my groups is super casual, the other is very competitive, so I bounce between the two

Prehaps you have a point. There are two card shops in town, so I guess I'll try the other for a casual group.

My group started out as a competitive multiplayer then when a shop opened up we went primarily to competitive tournement group. Slowly and unfortunately my group got smaller, due to being mainly military and having to move to different stations. The remander started to fall into the growing crowd at the shop for Standard Format. I also went with the crowd into standard but grew bored with the options of decks.
I currently am waiting to go on leave. I plan on bringing my decks and some pre-cons. I hope that I can get some people in my unit into playing. Unfortunately there are no other players out here with me.

Sorry to hear that. I hope your search for players yields results.
