Title: Pithing Needle question

Would the card Chromatic Star be immune to Pithing Needle? Chromatic Star isn't purely creating mana, as it's sort of doing other stuff, too.

Any ideas what the rules are on this?

Yes, Chromatic Star would be immune to its effects.

It is still a Mana Ability and just because it also "does something else" does not make it anything other than a Mana Ability.
