I was searching through my older cards a while back and was thinking on the new play set zendikar with its new ability landfall. I came across a card back from tempest that may be one of the first forms of traditional landfall. Look up a card called Dirtcowl Wurm. For those that don't he gets +1/+1 for every land your opponent puts into play. He starts off as a 3/4 for 5 converted mana which is not great considering it takes him a while to get big fast. Unless your opponent is playing fetch lands or a Land generator deck he will not get big fast.
A couple of days after i was in the neighborhood card shop Slackers and came across New Frontiers. This allows you to search for X lands and put them into play tapped. Also it allows your oppoenent(s) to do the same. Everyone needs land out either to play their expensive cards or to thin the deck out some, but the great thing is it allows Dirtcowl wurm to get big fast.
Put New Frontiers with Llanowar Druid and watch the magic happen.
