Title: Will this work?

If I use Misdirection on Tendrils of Agony, will the changed target (my opponent) loose the life and I gain the life or he looses the life and regains it back or what? I'm not actually gaining control of the spell, just changing the target, and in the oracle text of TOA it states "you gain" meaning my opponent. What happens in this case?

Since you don't control the spell you wouldn't gain the life. For the other point tendrils says target player not target opponent. You could make them target themselves and they would lose and gain life on themselves. In multiplayer you could take out an diffirent enemy, but the real problem is storm. Storm puts copies on the stack. Your misdirection would only stop one of the spells. The rest would still be under the casters control.

Ok I see, how about Commandeer, now I would gain control of the spell and I would gain the life and my opponent will loose the life, but do I also gain control of the storm ability or not?

Well, just read the rulings and unfortunetly the caster of the spell has control of the copies. That suckksssssss I hate ANT decks so much, I wanted to find a way to blow everything back at their smiling faces while I just sit there and watch them building up their spell count!!!!!!!!!! But I still manage to beat that deck, just wanted something to end it on turn 0.

Yeaahhhh about Aegis of Honor, I don't think it would work against Tendrils, the oracle states "would deal damage to you", with Tendrils your not beeing dealt damage, your losing the life. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work against TOA. That's what I think but I might be wrong................. You also have to find a way to stop Empty the Warrens, the second kill condition of the ANT deck, but nowadays in Legacy, ANT rarely tops in major tourneys, but sometimes does come out of nowhere.

Oh and BTW for Turbine, ANT stands for Ad Nauseam Tendrils. A combo-based deck used in Legacy to build up spell counts to eventually fuel the Storm ability of Tendrils for massive life loss, using card draw and cheap 0 costing mana-producing artifacts and so on................ And Ad Nauseam.....well to refuel your hand since most of the cards your gonna draw don't cost anything ( Converted Mana Cost), loosing a bit of life and probably getting another good 7-8 cards in your hand. Similar to the Epic Storm deck.
