When you sacrifice a creature that is indestructible, does that creature die?

You can sac an indestructible creature. This would work good with a creature with persist.

yes it still dies, being indestrictulbe only protects it from lethal damage or destroy effects, sacing or going to 0 toughness will still kill them

Yes, it dies.

Just wondering, do you really think that the WotC would make a card with a moot ability?

It isn't double damage. It is dealing damage twice.

which is a VERY important difference (and really, can be much more lethal than just double damage.)

because of cards that trigger on combat damage being dealt

'Indestructible' only prevents the following:

1. 'Destroy' effects such as Wrath of God or Doom Blade

2. Death through damage - e.g. a 5/5 indestructible creature with 10 damage still does not die.

They can still be sacrificed as normal, and will still die due to state based effects (e.g. 0 toughness creatures, duplicate Legendary permenants, being attached to an illegal permanent, etc.)

I don't understand the difference.

Why don't you read my comments?  Double strike means that you deal combat damage twice, in most cases, it won't really make any difference, if you pump a creature with double strike think of it as double damage if you want, but with some cards it can make a huge difference.

because of what lin said-cards that trigger on being dealt combat damage

example quitus spike-

a 1/1 double striker equiped with it will deal 1 damage the first attack, the spike then takes them down to 10, then 1 damage the 2nd going down to 5

a 1/1 that does double damage goes down to 18 the attack then spike takes them down to 9 difference of 4 life

hippie is another attacking twice or haveing double damage will both cause 4 life loss, however two attacks means two discards as opposed to 1

Yup, double strike is far nastier than just doing double damage - as has been said, it also doubles up any combat damage triggers.

In some cases the creature may actually grow between first strike and regular damage, e.g. Arcbound Slith with a Fireshrieker will do 1 damage then 2 damage and wind up as a 3/3.

Well... I don't read the posts of pricks. Your post wasn't helpful at all and the way you wrote it made it sound like it had nothing to do with the thread. Learn to write a cohesive sentence and maybe I'll read it.

You and Zark need to pull out whatever sticks you both have up your asses and chill the hell out.

So if my unblocked creature that has double strike is equipped with Sword of body and mind, I get two wolves and mill for ten twice? Also, what's up your ass scotty?

Yes, the damage is dealt twice, like I said earlier.

Scotty, I think you need to calm down.

I'm quite calm, I just don't like being talked down to. Both of them seem to do it quite often. Maybe they aren't meaning to but it sure comes across that way.

I am definitely going to try and include more double strike in my decks. Especially with infect...

Zark isn't condescending! I'm not going to say anything for or against Lin though.

probably because I haven't been on in a long time.

Now, the reason that my sentence didn't make sense to you was this: I wrote it as a countinuation to the last post.

One thing about online chatting is that tone is near impossible, as a result I think you thought that I was condisending, when I was just clarifying in case you (or anyone else) didn't understand (a reasonable assumption being you asked about a post I had clarified)

Anything else your angry at me about, or does this clear things up between us?

I didn't mean to come across as condescending, just was clarifying what others had said re the difference between hitting twice and dealing double damage.

Being condescending would be like 'haha you're so dumb you don't know the difference' (which is just an example, I'm not actually saying this.

Calling me a prick with a stick up my ass does reek a tad of
TROLL

so try to keep things polite and civil when people are trying to help.

Of course for things like urza's armor, double strike is worse than double damage

True enough, there are exceptions to every rule :)

So. . . if a 2/2 creature has double strike and trample, and goes up against a 2/2, then does two damage go to the player?

Yes - as it will be unblocked when regular damage is being dealt, the remaining damage will trample over.

so if it doesn't have trample what happens?

because the creature was already considered blocked for combat.
