Title: I was wondering if I was correct...

My friend and I were playing a casual game, and we ran across a disagreement. I'm using a control deck vs his elf deck. He's low on life, and has half his deck in his graveyard with no creatures out, while I have 3 creatures . Its his turn and he casts a regular 1G elf, and passes. I have "Incremental Blight" in my hands and cast it on his creature and saying I choose for all counters to go onto his creature. The text on the card says "Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature, two -1/-1 counters on another target creature, and three counters on a third target creature." My argument is that since it says "target creature", it means I could indefinitely target the same creature three times, and the card's text did not forbid me to do so. My friend ended up agreeing, but was still pretty sure that I had to pick my own creatures also, since they were out on the field. Anyone have a clue to whom was correct?
If you want, here's a link to the card:

your friend was. you needed to put counters on 2 of your creatures. The card does say target creature however, it says
another and a third
target creature. So you needed to have 3 seperate creatures [Edited by gericault5 on 10/Dec/09 at 9:14PM]
