1 v 1 is even. The cmc 4 makes itself up with the damage. Spirits have more tribal support. Go with the spirit, 1v1 or multi. Competitive, I wouldn't consider either. Spirit all the way for casual, and casual is the only grounds for judging these cards.

In a 1 on 1 game, You really can't compare the two without knowing how they are being played and with what, for example how many cards do i have in the 3 spot vs the 4, to keep my curve balanced will have a big impact for me on what I choose.

especially since neither gains an advantage over the other.   so on turn 3 you both are at 20 life if you play the horror you are at 17, on turn 4 you attack and your oppoenent is at 17, so both at 17 turn 4.  but if you played the banshee instead of the horror, you are both at 17 turn 4. so no gain

as for my vote, the banshee-I play alot of multiplayer and it is the superior card of the two for that

even 1v1 the banshee is better, because sure it costs 1 more, but you and your opponent are still on level ground when it hits the battlefield.  till you swing.

It's the same with the Scudder. On turn 4, they lose 3 life from an attack.

Not necessarly if they have a blcker you are at the disadvantage because your lower life. The banshee keeps it level despite blockers

plus at 3rd turn, there is a lower possibility of it getting countered... lower possibility of your opponent having a blocker or a bigger flying critter...
