This guy...



Equipped with this one...


with this in the battlefield...


Then was targetted with this...




You activate the doubling counter ability of Gilder Bairn, then the opponent responded with a Doom blade targetting Gilder Bairn...
The question is:
Can you activate the mana ability again in response to the doom blade? and then activate the untap ability again? and continue on what you're planning to do all along...

Since the untap is a cost so you can tap it again the moment that it untaps while everything is still on the stack, right?

yes, doomblade is on the stack, but you can respond gilder being tapped to use his ability again. In short you can keep using it as much as you want, but when you let the stack resolve down to the blade you gilder goes dead.

Definitely not at it's best. The O-ring idea is near at it's best. The old rules were more fun.
