What is everyone's view on Slivers. Personally, I think that they are the best creature type. Massive ability gain, what can get better than that. One problem, Wrath of God and other mass removal spells.

Slivers are indeed a great deck type, and they are very difficult to cope with if they're allowed to build up over time. I personally hate Sliver Queen, so many 1/1's...so many...so many...my elf deck was horribly outnumbered that day, and having coat of arms in play didn't make things any better honestly.

Wow, that's a first. An Elf deck being outnumbered.

It was horrible, first Sliver Queen, followed by ashnod's altar and a heartstone, next thing you know 78 billion of the little suckers in play, each getting +1/+1 for each of them in play, due to the stupidity of me casting coat of arms and hoping to win next turn, via predatory focus. Much to my dismay Reflex sliver put and end to my delusions of a victory that turn.

Although slivers are strong when setup, overall elves are faster...

But in the other hand slivers have Sliver Legion... Elves only have alpha status fot them... They also have sliver overlord...

I loath them.. only one guy plays them and people walk away from a game before it starts. he uses a altar to deck you and gemhides get out there way way to fast. it just sucks.

And one more thing, Elves have "anti-Wrath of God" card on its lineup namely Caller of the Claw... But overall slivers are too imbalanced.. DAMN those wizards that unleashed them (pertaining to the story not the Wizards of the Coast).

Yup changeling could be the only tribe you can use against Slivers... But we can consider it a Sliver deck too, if it's playing against sliver deck right?

What I have realized about playing my friends sliver decks is they are truly a numbers tribe the more of them there are the better and harder they are, but with only a few out they are very managable.  Heavy aggro and control decks stand a good chance against them, by not allowing them a chance to gain ground.

As for a tribes, can a specfic one beat them, on there own, without instants/sorcery, not really --without being able to deal with specific slivers it makes it easier for them to mass in power.  outside changlings, wizards probally have the best chance as they offer a large enough range of abilities with which to keep them under control, such as burn, bounce, and counter, but then again through in a hivestone and anyone can

Amazingly Slivers, as hated and loved as they are, were the first legit tribe that MTG actually came out. I really wonder if R&D actually realized when they first played with the concept of slivers how broken the tribe would actually be. First brought in during tempest, they were reborn in onslaught (Due to genetic research for those who follows the stories), and i think it was the futuresight block after that.

Given time i would consider them to become much more worse and diverse than any other tribe could possibly strive for. The day you see people stop playing sliver decks is the day that you will see all tribal decks slowly go away.

I managed to beat Slivers with a horrible Grixis deck. He played Quick Sliver, Clot Sliver, and Homing Sliver. Without my burn spells in there, I would have been murdered.

Well the obvious answer is Engineered Plague but that is illegal in most formats. A Sliver deck can be managed, especially with a red deck, if you are able to destroy each sliver as it appears. Many of them are only 1/1 or 2/2 so a bunch of shocks and you have time to get yourself together. A goblin/direct damage deck can work well due to it's speed.

My friend has a pretty awesome Sliver deck but he always struggles because I have changelings. So much fun that one creatue type could screw everything.

They key for a sliver deck is to carry a few counter spells. My deck is 20 land 4 counter spells and 36 slivers with a 6 card sideboard.

Good against a blue deck, Crystalline Sliver would be my choice though.

Only problem of slivers are Mass Removal Spells.. Correct me if i'm wrong but, slivers still has no sliver that gives indestructible on their tribe.. It will be too imbalanced if WotC put a sliver that gives indestructible.. LOL.. Scary..

The Sliver that says pay 2 life to return any Sliver to your hand will let you keep your creatures. Also, you can use the Sliver that says to sac a Sliver to gain 2 life.

Ally is the new watered down version of sliver personally. I hope they keep the allys. Also being a numbers tribe they can easily get very vicious very quickly.

The power of slivers is with the deck maker not the deck itself. It takes a lot of talent and thought to make slivers work right. The two premade sliver decks\' I\'ve seen I\'ve easily beaten with with a balanced Grixis deck. The one hand-made by my friend was a wreaked havoc. The only way to really deal with them is a burn deck.

any creature type can get annoying if you cant get rid of your opponents creatures the allys in my opinion are not as good as slivers due to the fact that you need to put one in play every turn to activate all the abilities but im sure they are only going to get stronger with the next sets

You know what really annoyed me? is that Kobolds, never made it past fifth edition. there was some serious potentional for that creature type, and they never went anywhere with it.  I mean they made elves a useful creature type, but not kobolds!!! angry. Also look at kithkin, there was one up until timespiral

Lets face it, magic has just gotten more unbalenced, many old cards, just can't compete with the newer cards

So although slivers, weren't too good to begin with, they have gotten out of hand (i blame harvest sliver, and sliver legion)

Yeah My sliver deck is AWSOME. I cheat ;)

This site provides so many nifty things that with one card from a combo that untaps things.......CACKLES

Turn two, Gemhide sliver

Turn three,HASTE sliver(cant think of the name heart sliver perhaps) Then play any sliver for three

Turn four play Intruder Alarm, a sliver for 3, untap all slivers, drop a sliver for 4, untap all creatures, play Sliver over lord, UNTALL search deck for ........................................................................

In the end you drop every sliver in your deck on turn four. It reqires the perfect opening hand so it can get pushed back to the sixth turn. I like it

As much as I loathe slivers, they are never impossible to beat. I once beat a competitive play sliver deck (extended) with a standard Esper deck. the cards in the deck were all from the shards of alara block, so I was very limited. We played 2/3 and I won the first and last match. I also overwhelmed a sliver deck on turn 5 with Elves, and he had sliver overlord out. My friend ace a burn deck and a sliver deck with an Angel deck (Sans Mass Removal). What I'm trying to say is, Slivers arent really that good now that other builds are up to par. But I still hate them.
