I will exept answers from anybody though.

Q. with cards like these:

Elvish PiperÆther VialMaster TransmuterPolymorph

The creature that ends up in play from these cards, does it have Summoning sickness?

I got into an argument and looked everywhere in the comprehensive rules and could find nothing. I know the transmuter brings out artifacts but I'm talking artifact creatures. Thanks to everyone that helps :D

The creatures still have Summoning Sickness. Remember though, that you can play the abilities at the end of the opponents turn.

Yes it does have summoning sickness... everything that enters the battlefield that doesn't have haste has summoning sickness...

Shakii and turbine are correct, basically a creature will have summoning sickness if it comes into play since the beginning of your last turn, no matter how it comes into play, unless it has haste or the effect putting it into play grants it haste such as sneak attack.  A creature loses summoning sickness if its in play at the start of your turn

No, I was playing someone on friday that had AEther Vial and Elvish P. in the same deck. He was under the immpression that they came into play without SS and could attack that turn. Then he went on to say that polymorph, since you disgard a creature, that did not have SS. I kept telling him he was wrong and he still argued and told me a pro player taught him to play like this. I cant find the comp rule on this. Can someone give me a link to show him? He would just argue that you guys are not pros. what a newb. Thanks.

Just ask a judge the rules you are looking for are just the SS rules no matter where it comes from all creatures have SS unless Stated otherwise im just an RA but i know that SS is only averted if the creature was brought in during the opponents turn or it has haste

There was no Judge. It was casual at a what-a-burgar and the all were obviously newbs because everyone there agreed with him. I don't think I will play with this bunch again. I just want them to play right either way. Thanks everyone.

I dont think you should not play with people just because they dont know the rules take the time to teach them.  hear is the rule your looking for

302.6. A creature’s activated ability with the tap symbol or the untap symbol in its activation cost can’t be activated unless the creature has been under its controller’s control continuously since his or her most recent turn began. A creature can’t attack unless it has been under its controller’s control continuously since his or her most recent turn began. This rule is informally called the “summoning sickness” rule.

This guy was so used to playing like this that you would think I just stole his GF when I alerted him that he was playing wrong. They don't like it when you tell them that their deck is not as powerful as they think it is because of one little rule. He stated that SS only works when you cast a creature with its CC cost. I havn't been playing as long as these guys and I already knew that was BS. Probably becaus I go to FNM and local events were there are judges. I found these guys on craigslist with an ad to play Magic every Friday, casualy at What-a-burgar. I will go back this week and try to teach them a little better and maybe see if they would like to join me for the Scars pre relese event. Thanks for the rules.

The power that made Æther vial restricted was the fact that your putting the creature into play is an ability. If you use Æther vial, or any of those abilities to put a creature into play at the end of your opponents turn then you have the creature at the beginning of you own turn. The rule about SS is since the beginning of you turn, so the duration of SS in this case is between the middle of there end step, and the beginning of your turn. It still HAS summoning sickness, just not for long. The beginning of the end step is probably one of the most important, and least understood phases of the game.

Oh, no I understand how to use these cards. I just don't use them. These guys are the ones who don't understand. I may use the piper every once in a while. And I would love to use that new mass polymorph in something. it pretty awsome with tokens.

Yep. Just make sure not to have Legendary creatures in your deck.
