Title: I'm tired of being the jerk

Lately I seem to have been doing nothing but shooting down combos because of specific rulings. To try to end this, so i can go back to praising good combos and giving improvement suggestions, I will post the points that seem to be causing the most trouble.
  1. A permanent is a card that is in play. Any card that is not in play is not a permanent.
  2. Replicated spells aren't cast. They go on the stack, but don't count towards storm, of flipping Erayo, Soratami Ascendant.
Hopefully this will end my acting like a jerk. I like constructive criticism. I don't mind giving some, but this is to much. Please work with me people.

It does help... Especially from critiques that doesn't just ruin the combo because it has a weakness...

It's just that i had a run of 2 days of doing nothing but shooting down combos. The problem was there was no alternative option. The cards just didn't work the way they planed, so i was just slapping everybody down. That wasn't fun.

Someone just left the site, because I said his combo wasn't interesting. He named it interesting way to win, when the card said "win the game" on it. I even said that it was a cool idea earlier on the thread.

Time to bring this back for an rule update. Things that trigger at the beginning/end of a phase can only trigger once per phase. This means that unless you make a extra phase during your turn it only will trigger once. Nether Spirit is an example of a card like this.

When is says at the beginning of your upkeep it triggers as your upkeep turn occurs. After that you upkeep turn is already in progress, so it can't trigger again.

I miss the old days with only Shakii, me, Gericault, and a few others. There was no hating back then. . .

Wow, I feel like everyone is mad at me. . .and to make things worse, I haven't seen Shakii in a while.

I'm trying to find the root of the problem, and I'm afraid that it is just my personality. I'm not intentionally being malicious or irritating.

Well some of it is that making a downgrade on a combo that is already posted is dumb. It is like trying to claim some form of being the original combo idea when if fails. For others, spending 13 mana in one turn for a only slightly better board position that can be beaten with a 4 mana card is dumb. The down side of more people posting combos is more bad ideas and failed combos.

Turbine-I can't speak for everyone else, but for me... you rubbed me the wrong way and more importantly, at the wrong time.  There wasn't a death, but things have been getting "tense".  And frankly i rather take my frustration out on you, since your nothing more then a series of 0's and 1's, then to take it out on someone around me.

But overall, You have a tendency to grate on people, with your negative comments and especially your little sarcastic ones, I have a feeling most of your last words would have a hint of sarcasm if we can hear them, but can't hear them so we have to take them a straight value.  I saw your comment to Newb earlier before you erased it, and after reading all your psots for the past year, I know enough about how you write to realize what you were going for, but Newb doesn't so he he took it at face.  And at face value, you were insulting and critizing him and then to come back and erase it saying it wasn't directed at him (when it clearly was) is just another insult.

Turbine your someone who needs to have the last word, I get that, most people here do to.  I don't know if you noticed, but usually when people get pissed with you its after you post your last word.  Alot of the time it has nothing to do with the combo or the discussion but you need to have something so you write whatever, and thats usually what sets people off.  You got to learn...the last word doesn't always need to be said.  I can sit here and make comments on everyones posts too, I can post my thoughts on how 7 card 1st turn wins are unrealistic, how everyone knows the rats/thrumming stone combo why post it, how the scepter and an instant is just a waste of time and space. But I don't say those things, because it doesn't matter, they have nothing to do with whats posted, do I really need to hinder things with my negative thoughts and opinions about a combo, especially when there are people who got the 7 card 1st turn win, didn't know the rats stone combo, or learned about new instants to play with the scepter.

What you have to do instead of trying to get through as many posts as possible while the teacher isn't looking, is to take some time, read what you wrote, and ask yourself "is this off the wall and has nothing to do with the combo" and "if I was the person I'm responding to would this piss me off".  If the answer is yes to either question, hit the delete button and move on to the next combo.  I guarntee you will not piss off as many people.

And if you do....................Fuck them, their nothing more then 0's and 1's anyway :-)

This isn't to have the last word. It is an actual response.

Why are you becoming angry at me when you know that it is only 1s and 0s?

I am very sarcastic, but try not to be offensive. I got rather bored of having to add smiley faces on my posts so that people did not take them offensively. Also, it is rather hard to put sarcasm in certain words while typing.

The reason why I erased what I had said to Newb is that I had read his post wrong. I apologized later even. Somehow, I read it as that the combo was impossible to get out.

I realize that lately I had been posting things that did not contribute to the website. I believe that I have already said that I am trying to fix it.

Another thing, as far as I can tell, I was suggesting a way to kill the creature every turn, while someone else had shot it down. I have suggested creating an email to send to new people about how to check if a combo has been posted, plus a list of the combos that are widely known, like Channel/Fireball.

Why are you becoming angry at me when you know that it is only 1s and 0s?  I already told you why.

I am very sarcastic, but try not to be offensive. I got rather bored of having to add smiley faces on my posts so that people did not take them offensively. Also, it is rather hard to put sarcasm in certain words while typing.  exactly, remember there is a very thin line between sarcasm and criticism, without being able to hear the tone its easy to cross

The reason why I erased what I had said to Newb is that I had read his post wrong. I apologized later even. Somehow, I read it as that the combo was impossible to get out.  then that is what should have been said. not saying you know I posted this in the wrong place, and to be honest I didn't even come close to thinking that is what you were implying with that post, and obviously newb didn't either

I realize that lately I had been posting things that did not contribute to the website. I believe that I have already said that I am trying to fix it.   ok, but realize if you do post, odds are your going to get a response

Another thing, as far as I can tell, I was suggesting a way to kill the creature every turn, while someone else had shot it down. I have suggested creating an email to send to new people about how to check if a combo has been posted, plus a list of the combos that are widely known, like Channel/Fireball.  the killing a creature thing, I have no idea what your talking about.  as for the list of widely know combos, who's to say what is widely known.  like I said above their are people who don't know these "widely known" combos, case in point recently the 2 galvinizers/palldium combo was posted Newb didn't know that.  But in the grand scheme do either of these two items matter.  You asked me in your first question,  why am I angry at you.  I'm not.  The other day you were an outlet for me, plain and simple.  I have no personal grudge with you, you were just in the wrong place and time, but now I no longer need that outlet so i moved on.  If you feel my post above says otherwise that is your choice, but you said above that, you are trying to find the root of the problem.  I just gave you a direction to start looking

The checking if a combo has been posted can be done. Search for the card in the "Search Cards & Combos:" at the top of the page. Just tell every newb that post a very well know combo, and tries to make it unique by shoving in any random card to use that search to see if it is already done one hundred and one different ways already. If you want them to feel stupid for posting something that in all likelihood gave them a already posted already before they changed it enough to force through, just let them see how dumb it was. If you want to start fights and flame wars Call them dumb. You learn form doing something stupid and realizing it. You just get belligerent from being insulted.

I am more of a lurker than a poster on this site, I love to learn new things and interactions with old cards I DIDNT KNEW the stones + rats combo so if I were Newb I would have felt offended. Ive posted a few things sometimes and used the "search combo" engine to know if something I posted was used or not, but even if someone told me it was already posted, old, useless, whatever, there are certain ways of saying it or not saying it at all.

Geri is right about his comment. Ive been around here for... like half a year or something? and i at first found Turbine comments trying to sound witty, sarcastic and insulting at the same time, but (again as Geri said) you cannot tell the difference in sarcasm easily, specially if its written.

People will get offended one way or another, but one thing is to make sure to not always speak whats on your mind because some people are more sensitive than others.

Turbine sounds like a nice chap once you...er... understand his ways and his attitude after scrolling through hundreds of responses across the site history, but new people around might get offended.

Really, I always thought that turbine was always being friendly, and even his mean comments were more of the "just joshing you" type of thing. I always get confused when people have the "Asshole" conversation on this site, mostly because I don't seem to see anyone being particularly mean.

This difference in opinions is of course due to the fact that you can't type with: tone, pitch, facial expressions, or anything of the sort. So messages are simply are written.

Also I feel a lot of people on this site hold grudges. . .

Not everyone knows the amazing combos, like Thrumming Stone and Relentless Rats. That is why I was suggesting sending a email to inform people that don't know them. I actually found that combo on a different website and brought it over for others to enjoy.

My posts recently have either been "optimistic" or contributive. . .I hope.

I haven't been a member of this site for that long, but I do really enjoy it.  I think it's important to remember that there are people on this site with different experience and skill levels.  What one may view as obvious may be new and exciting to someone else.

I think everyone has to remember that every combo isn't going to be for everyone.  We all have different styles of play and different views on what is effective or not.  I feel there should be no negative comments on combos unless they simply don't work or they are reposts.  I wish there was a way for us to remove a combo we submitted if we find out it isn't legal.

As far as personalities go, I don't sweat the negativity.  If people can't be constructive instead of destructive I don't have time for them anyway.  Those are the people I usually mop up on game night.  So, in closing stay positive and help each other out, this site is a tremendous resource that we all should benefit from!

And Turbine, I have noticed your posts lately being a little more warm and fuzzy, lol.
