Title: Pauper problem

Hi, a friend of mine and me had a disagreement. He was playing a common card in a pauper deck that later on was re-printed as rare. The card is Armadillo Cloak and it was released in Invasion as common and later on in FNM as rare. Do cards like this, such as Leonin Scimitar for example that was common and then became uncommon in 10th eddition and so many others, play in pauper decks? Even if the person who plays them uses the common version?

That's really confusing, maybe you should check the gatherer. Me and my friends usually go by what the gatherer says about the rarity of a card.
For example, me and a friend argued over Serra Angel's rarity after M10 was printed, and decided that we would base rarity on the printing at the time, rather than the reprint. Because technically there are no real rulings on a card's rarity. For example, should I treat an uncommon copy of Loxodon Warhammer as a rare just because it was reprinted as a rare in Tenth edition?

Well we sorted it out after al, he found a rule that talks about that and if a card is both common and uncommon you can apparently use the common version for a pauper. By the way, theres a rule that says that if for example a creature with the type "elf" gets re-printed later and it's new types are "elf warrior" does it's previous version counts as an elf warrior too or only as an elf? I think it counts as an elf warrior but I am not sure.
