Everyone knows that Mirrodin is basically artifact heavy, but the storyline suggests otherwise. I believe we'll be seeing some artifacts, but I believe they'll be colored artifacts. My sources inform me that we will see Elspeth in this block, as well as Tezzeret. Post all the things you expect to see in Scars, or something you would like to see. I'll make the first predictions. Karn as a planeswalker, an abundance or colored artifacts as well as a few colorless artifacts, a 5-color planeswalker. I also think there might be a new black and green planeswalker. I highly doubt Wizards will bring that mechanic back, as much as it would tickle many players' fancy. It isn't exactly impossible, however. They were to defend the Mirari made by Karn. Glissa had a planeswalker spark, was transferred to Slobad. Then Slobad gave it up to save Glissa. Karn is a planeswalker, Slobad might have some left over, Glissa might of regained her spark, and Geth is a Lich..... /shrug As for affinity, if it does come back. It will not be as common. I heard possibly the echos will return. Artifacts will be most likely colorless so it will blend with the Eldrazi and spells accordingly. From M11 what I can tell. It will be counter based with a lot of taping? I'm predicting an artifact sorcery or instant, colorless, cost tons, destroy target creature, Emrakul.... She could find her new home in Mirrodin. As for Tezzeret, he might find it offensive that a previously all-artifact plane has been corrupted by natural life. I really think the affinity mechanic will come back. I mean, it's returning to Mirrodin which is all about artifacts and Mark Rosewater himself confirmed a mechanic would be returning to Scars of Mirrodin. I think it'll be affinity. My rational for this is that since tezz and elspth are in it, we know it takes place after shards so we know, a millinia has passed since the end of mirrodin (glissa and slobad are most likely dead) during this time frame the mycosynth would have continued to spread turning the metal into flesh (hence the name, the scaring of the perfect world).  the few artifacts that remain will be in the process of changing and will be colored like sarcomite myr (he'll be in), there won't be colorless sorceries or instants thats not to say I don't think there will be colorless costing creature, there will be, but I think there will be a modified sunburst type mechanic, where the creature becomes the colors you paid for it (though I also think this might be to complicated, so there will be cards like transguild courior instead which state the colors of a colorless cost) There will be no eldrazi and i wouldn't be suprised if scars doesn;t offer a way to deal with them.  karn will return and I think that garrak will to-or at least a green based walker, especially with all the artifact hate popping up in green.  though I dont think it'll be BG as that slot is for another incarnation of nissa oh there will be locus like cloudpost Date Posted: Sun Jul/18/10 at 9:18am Turbine Posts: 10194 Joined: 26-Oct-09 More Locuses would break Cloudpost so much. I get shivers thinking about if they are going to bring Yawgmoth back. He did make for a really key villian throughout the series. Judging by the reference to Baron Signir in M11, I wouldn't be surprised if they bring him back as well. Possibly even Serra herself as well. I expect many of the older legends from the past to make a comeback in this series. I'm thrilled for it. Wizards wouldnt make the same mistake twice... and they need to make things more original, not to cycle abilities but to creat new ones on each expansion. Date Posted: Fri Jul/23/10 at 12:18am gericault5 Posts: 2788 Joined: 13-Oct-09 If any other mechanics come back besides scry, im thinking it'll be entwine or possibly imprint.  Ephemerance-I have been away for awhile with limited computer access so i haven't been keeping up with things.  I know about the trademarks for the names, but I did not know that wizards made an announcement on the order of the sets.  Once scars was announced i assumed it would be scars, new phyrexia, and then mirrodin pure.  The conversion starting in scars with the myscoth and the oil, furthering in new.  and the question being what was mirrodin pure, back to the pure ideal world created by karn or the phyrexian idea of "purity".  Like I said before Karn will return, however, I can't see yawgmoth making a return.  We still have bolas running around and since tezzerat is in scars we know bolas is involved.  I also think since elspth will be in there as an "enemy" to be dealt with become more blue in the process, her ideals of the perfect world borderline on fantasy, if she was to find the mirari she would easily be corrupted by its power to turn fantasy to reality, much like chainer was. Date Posted: Fri Aug/13/10 at 2:01pm JMDin83 Posts: 880 Joined: 30-Jul-09 FNM's are generally Standard, so the only thing close to combo decks i see atm are Open the Vaults decks and Mass Polymorph.  either of which is a good target for this card.  same with Super Friends or Legion of Doom decks. However, in my Legacy meta, we have Bant Survival, Charbelcher, CounterTop, Urotsokudoji (my foodchain deck),  Stax, and Thoptercombo, just to name a few.  most of these decks go off on turn 2-3, if not turn 1 on a godhand.  so Extirpate is vital here. Future Sight was to give a glimpse of Mechanics, creature types and other things that would appear in the Future. And, most creatures before then didn't have to do combat damage for you to get a poison counter, they just needed to damage you in any way. I wish they would do that instead of combat damage.
