What do you think of the Vintage pointing system? (or any other I only play vintage.)

I really don't like it too much.

1.) I hate people who get byes.

2.) if you loose 1-2, you should get one point and your opponent should get two.

3.) If people Drop out it can screw up the game.

that is the way you run a traditional tornement, in any game.

Thought so, wasn't sure. To me, it just doesn't seem entirely fair.

The Idea being that a buy won't move you up more than a place, the largest prize is first, and in the end the best gets first, with second and third certain things may be considered unfair, but the idea being that you probably won't be so unlucky the next tornement.

This is how this tournament worked. Each Tournament the host gives out 10 prizes to the top ten. In the last round I was in 10th with 3 points, the some one was in 11th with 3 points, and the kid in 12th with 0 got a bye. The 11th place person lost, but the kid with the bye got his 3 points and it pushed me back to 12th place.

Kinda sucks

Really the only time you should REALLY HATE to get a BUY is when you are playing in swiss. Double elimination you get your 3 points and everything is great (if you are the one geting the buy). In swiss however it is based upon your win percentage vs the opponents ranking (still trying to figure how that is calculated into it but yes I know this because it got me into the top eight and also kicked out of the top eight several times). So in swiss if the paper says 6 points pay no mind to it.
