Im surprised nobody posted a topic like this earlier... but anyways,

ever play a deck, and its just SOO brutal or undefeatable, or whatever?
is there any cards that you just HATEE so much, like - once it hits the field, all hope is lost?

i thought it'd be a good idea to start a forum where we all could talk about how to play against these decks or combos or cards we hate so much.. and win :)

ill start;
anyone know the card: luminarch ascension?
good card..
if your not playing burn, since most white decks have VERY good protection/prevention, then once this card hits the field, unless you can get rid of enchantments, your screwed...
but anyways,
lightmine field, can combat this very well,
just make sure that you got some chump blockers, or just creatures that are 5/5 at LEAST...

anyways people,
post cards/ combos/decks here that you hate playing/cant defeat or whatever,
and ill try to help (if i cant, the other ppl on this sites are more knowledgeable with magic, and DEFINITELY can help :P )

For Luminarch, use Regress or something to return it to it's owner's hand.

In my opinion, pithing needle is enough to prevent most of the combos... because most of the combos or i think all of them requires an activation... Am i right? or am i right?

That freaking Divining Top drives me mad.  You have to have an instant artifact removal (disenchant/naturalize work) in order to remove it - then you have to only do this in reaction to them drawing a card.  I find that card quite annoying.

If anyone has a different way to put a stop to the think I'd love to know.  I guess I could start playing with titania's song...but that's just silly.

<EDIT>  course, the pithing needle mentioned just above me here would work as well I suppose

My friend's elf deck pisses me off. He usually finds some way to win. But, that's usually because he's able to get a bunch of token's out pretty quickly, then there are cards that are */* for each elf in his control, so it gets pretty out of hand.

With something like that, obviously a Wrath of God or something to that effect would decimate his deck. Also, if I'm playing my Merfolk deck and get Teferi's Moat out, he's screwed.

As far as the Divining Top that was mentioned.....Pithing Needle is effective, as well as something like Counterbore.  If you really, really need a combo stopped......there's nothing better than removing the capability of pulling that combo from the game. Sure, Counterbore is kinda expensive, but what value do you put on stopping that combo....?

Extract, Sadistic Sacrament, Denying Wind, and there is a blue merfolk that lets you exile target card from their library if it hits the opponent (you have to activate the ability for 2 colorless, but well worth it!) forgot its name, but its out of nemesis...i used to use it in a Blue/Black mill deck when it was Standard lol
